He assumes the wheels are a $30,000 option... This is (or was) a major contributor... at least at one time.

IMSA TODAY!

To be honest, I have no idea what's up with this class. No qualifying, I'm not sure how they determined the starting grid. #15 had exhaust issues, one Stevenson z28 blew an engine in practice  and the other Mantella z28 is MIA. #158 starts in like 7th and the Stevenson #6 is in 5th...

Aston returned with a Pro driver (former Fall-Line guy) and now only 10 cars are in the field :(

It sounds more like WWE...

ZTWENTYPOOP I think is the fellow who had a Z/28 and offloaded it. Seems like a good guy tho.
I'm beginning to wonder though. Ever since two or three people have jumped on the bandwagon of claiming he was untruthful about owning a z/28, he's not replied to their accusations. Looks like he still posts over there though. Was he really a poser? Or is he just not giving a few folks the satisfaction of a reply after they went on a witch hunt to paint him as a liar?

In any case, it's the Internet, you really don't know anything about anyone else rather than what they tell you. I really don't understand why people would take the time and energy to research his posts and such. It's not like he'll get prosecuted for anything if he was lying.

I was at the CTSCC race on Friday at RA. During the fan interaction time on the starting grid prior to the race, I had a chance to speak with Scott Maxwell of the #15 Multimatic GT350R-C.

Although they did not qualify due to rain, he knew enough during practice that they had little chance of winning this race; the gearing was wrong (rules do not permit deviation from out of the box), and the restricted TB meant they did not have the power to compete against the Nismo 370's. He also said anything can happen. During the race, and in addition to being slow on those long straights, the "anything" did not play in their favor...

I get the equalization for the sake of close racing; however the advantages of both the new Mustang GT350 and 7.0L Camaro Z28 in terms of speed in the hands of a consumer, don't have what it takes on the longer tracks  The car that strikes the best balance of reality and IMSA racing is the P 911.

I do have something positive to say though; the sound of that 5.2 FPC has to be heard in person to be appreciated. More sophisticated and smoother sounding by far than the LS7, Aston Martin, and right there with that sublime M3 V8. Those Coyote Boss motors sound really good too!

I don't follow this class much anymore. The first few races were exciting but it didn't take long for the nonsense to ensue. I'm not sure why the z28 was given nearly free reign for a season and a half while the Mustang is choked on day 1. It's just that good I guess...

I'll check the points later...

When IMSA handed Stevenson the win on a rain delay, after spinning Rum Bum out, I was sure it set them up for a automatic title.

Rum Bum can pull this off, it would have been closer if IMSA wouldn't diaper Chevy's ass every step of the way.

The #6 car needs a blown engine, it's coming and it will cost them dearly. LS7's go boom at the worst times...

Does anyone know if Ford banned Video of the Laguna Seca Hot Laps yesterday? There were members here that lapped, I'm assuming they shut down video.

I think this event was the Laguna Seca cue??? Was thePill too soon???

I think I'm okay...

Next up!!! VIR... (Unconfirmed)

The GT350 is very fast at VIR... both time and MPH.

My bad!!!

There will be an event to officially allow media to drive the new 2016 GT350's at Laguna Seca and around the surrounding area. This will be similar to the Boss 302 introduction at Laguna Seca from February 2011. So expect to see lots of driving impressions and hopefully some lap times from the event starting next Monday August 24th. Ford has the track all week and once the media is finished then the Track Tour begins on August 27th.
I can't maintain a schedule if you have 3 f@ckin events scheduled at the same track. Which event then!!!! The Shelby event last week??? The media event this week? Or the Track Tour next week?

2 weeks before Laguna!!! Stop making me look like a crystal ball rubbing asshat!!!

Don't expect lap times... Ford is specifically leaving track times up to the customers and magazines.

I think that's better...

Interesting...

Track record holder does a 1:31.x in a stock 1LE at Gratten. Claims the R is 9 seconds faster than that, about 1:22.x. He also ran a 1:28.x in his Pedders modified 1LE and claims the GT350 is 3 seconds faster than that... about 1:25...

The GT500 and ZL1 were 1:28 and 1:27 cars... the z28 should be no more than 2 seconds faster than the ZL1 for sure. I'm betting less because of the surface conditions and MRC. I'd say the z28 is a 1:26-1:27 car at Gratten... The GT350TP looks to be faster than the z28 too. Easy to believe since the Z51 was benched.

Okay, that guy ran a 1:31.47 at Gratten in a 1LE. That is a very good time for an NA car for that price. The E92 was a 1:30.x car at the same place...

Car and Driver put the 2011 Brembo GT in a "Best Handling" test in 2010 and ran a 1:32.5.

I'm sure the actual owner above was competent, he provided a reference somewhat. He's no fool... Yet C&D can get within a second of the 2014 1LE with a 2011 GT. I've heard of faster S197's there too...

http://m.caranddriver.com/features/...-mini-jcw-feature-2011-ford-mustang-gt-page-5

At the time, the Brembo GT was a $32,000 car... Why again am I supposed to be impressed? I just seen a comitted driver, with 700 miles of 1LE seat time just push beyond a second from a 2011 GT... driven by Car and Driver...

That's not encouraging...
