Might as well mention this here now...

The GT500 was brought up a few days ago, some other internet guys talked about it.

It is in development and, according to their source, will be over 740hp...

Need more sources than just two at HPK.

I have my eye on this bad boy (fingers crossed). Please keep us updated as i'm sure you will. Any info on the powertrain?

No info on the GT500, I even question the two sources as well. They had an article up on Google, now it is gone. I believe the 740hp claim may have been rethought once the TT 3.5 pushing 600+ went live. This source is also responsible for the "No more V8's after 2017" comment made recently. It would be difficult for the GT500 to be pushing 740hp and doing so without an FI V8.

They were confirmed to be at Detroit but, just as anyone in this hobby, you hear all kinds of "Info", even from Ford themselves. It is up to the Bird that is singing in public what and what not to tweet about. I have this issue as well...

I don't want to add to this GT500 fire yet but, here was a screen capture.

Based on the thread over at Camaro5 they're having a slight bit of problem understanding load and resistance dynamics when it comes to drivetrain design.
Those folks over there have a hard time understanding 3rd grade math, let alone physics. They also believe automotive history began in 1911 and anything before that was just made up.

Ah yes the year when Combat Pistol development peaked to some as well.

I think 740 hp looks reasonable. Dodge thought they ended the hp wars with the hellcats but that was just the beginning. Bring it on Ford:headbang:

I find it crazy that Club Racing organizations are not flexible with their rules and have so much power over auto manufacturers to actually influence the brake rotor and tire sizes of production cars.

Racers, and I'll include autocrossers, are very quick to take advantage of "flexibilities" and loopholes in the rules and even maximum advantage of specified tolerances in order to either gain a (temporary) advantage or simply to prepare a car to the same level as what the fast guys have already done. IOW, any looseness in the rules becomes a de facto required modification and part of the price to play if you want to have any hope of success. Unless, of course, you're truly an alien driver and you know it.

Rules written into competition class rulesets are written to limit what competitors may legally do (see above). Mfrs are not bound to those rules unless they wish to benefit in some way from having their cars race there. Whether it's a bad decision to build a car that's outside the rules remains to be seen.

Shelby got 1000 Horsepower out of the GT500 Trinity engine, and I've heard of lots of 750+ HP Blown Coyote's, what's the big deal, other than emissions and warranty?

I think it safe to say the GT500 will have a V8 and some type of forced induction. The GT500 has always been the big motor car no matter the era it was built. Early cars were 428 powered beasts and later 5.4 and 5.8 liter cars. Perhaps the new GT500 will use a 5.2 liter coyote of some type with twin turbos, or maybe even the voodoo with FI.

Then again, I was wrong on all counts about the GT350, so maybe it will be a boosted V6, which I think is not a true GT500. Whatever it turns out to be, I think any speculation deserves its own thread.

The GT500 will probably and most likely be a supercharged Coyote... why would it be anything else? GT500 is about rear tires and HP. Easy discussion.

Is Ford testing convertibles in Michigan today? Isn't it a little chilly for that?

Stay warm brake department!!!

I think you're right, for now. I think this GT500 will be a FI V8, but I can see the trend eventually affecting it. Heck, look at the Ford GT, a TT V6. Now, I'm not knocking it, I'm betting its going to be an absolute beast. But it seems the trend as of now is smaller engines and FI.

Performance Rumor!

According to 3 prior sources, all who attended Detroit, the GT350R's Wing is very important. They went into details about the drag and how the design was yadda yadda for less drag overall. The intergrated pedestals nearly eliminate wing drag altogether. Yeah? Sounds awesome...

...but what they bragged about next had me really excited...

You see, the final decisive factor on the GT350R was, when lapping against the Boss 302R and Boss 302S. Once a wing was used, the R excels "at those speeds".

At those speeds? Do you mean the speed of the Boss 302R and the GTS Boss 302S? Then wholey sh!t!

Even being competitive with the CTSCC car is beyond my expectations. Let's see it pull it off.

Production Rumor:

This may end up being true...

Ford WILL have a short MY15, it may only be the GT350 and only 500. If this is true, the first 500 are only to homologate the car, also being available (to the public), 30 days before the first race OR, in some cases, offered before 31 December 2015.

Like the z28, the first Model Year will be a short one and will be limited to 500. If I can side track for a second, this was brought up. A short MY offering a limited number is promoting a mark up rampage. Some see this as acceptable... A short, limited run has become the most collectible modern cars. So, in other words, these initial 500 not only homologates the vehicle for organized Motorsport, but if feeds and quickly extinguishes the "I'm 1st" frenzy that surrounds every car. Mark-ups are placed on the cars YES, But, when the '16's are coming along, in higher volume, those mark-ups sometimes don't stick. It gives the dealer a limited time to play around (his right), all while the initial rush fuels resale value. Anyway... just something we discussed and it was worth repeating...

As they suggest, the 2015 will be "OK TO ORDER" Late Summer/Fall 2015. This will allow the GT350 on the track during the '16 season, or at least get the Rulebooks moving and updated by February/March. I doubt many of the first few will see tracks or competition. Then, the 2016's will be available March/April. Just in time to meet some other organizations cut off dates. I have a feeling the R will be a 500-1000 limited run while the GT350 is 5000-10,000.

It seems feasible, if the BJ car is going up now, it should be ready to order in the Fall. Maybe there will be 500 GT350's and 500 GT350R's in 2015 while time is limited.
