At $70+ you bet Ford is going to be trying. Still less money than a GT3, ZO6, M4 or RS5.

For $70 I'd buy 10 of them! For all we know this the the GT3/ALMS/World Challenge car and will come in at over $100,000.

OR! This could be the $50-55k street version but the engineers are just testing some of the more serious bits like the wheels/tires and brakes? Who knows, I just like what I see but don't like what's in my bank account.

I doubt it. Its smost likely a street car.

There is no way to know that for sure. All I can base speculation on from these photos is that it is running similar wheels to the Ford Racing FR500/Boss302S/R racecars(not 18" obviously, but similar models). I haven't seen a Ford uber-street car effort with stretched tires like that. Usually when you mount tires like that you are going for maximum sidewall stability and response at the expense of ride quality.

I am going to agree with grimace on this one. It is not necessarily a street car. This could be what the street car will be, just testing other technologies/parts that won't end up on the street car.

IIRC, Ford did something similar with the GT500. They had 2 at the 'ring and one was basically the current GT500 with a cage and a couple other changes, and the other was what is believed to be a "GT500 KR" version or a balls to the wall version of the GT500 with parts that never made it to anything on the street.

I personally attended the 2011 GT500 Ring runs. I observed Big Red lapping between 7:30 and 7:40... As many know, that Red GT500 had drilled rotors. The other car ran a 7:40-ish... As we all witnessed, SVT took the car into sub-7:40 laps.

It wouldn't surprise me if they intend on making this car faster with less power.

So the Z/28 uses CCB's on the street car. Does it also use those for the race car, or does it need to switch to iron rotors?

The GT350 with the polished rims is also using CCB's. Does the use of CCB's support the street car or race car theory?

Are there any high res pics of the car with the black wheels? I believe this was one of the earlier prototypes that did have CCB's as well, but other aspects of the car look different. Maybe it just has older equipment because it is an older car, or maybe Ford is testing two different versions (like Boss 302 and Boss 302 Laguna Seca).

The z28's Carbon Ceramic brakes are not permitted in CTSCC, GTS, T1 or T2. They use cast iron rotors... This GT350 will NOT class with the z28. The GT will be the z's competition in Pro with perhaps a GT350 running GTS.

It very well could be a legitamate GT entry, in which CCB's are not permitted.

my advice, get a GT and don't feel bad about trading paint. Ford has two GT's availible... One uses class maximum equipment the GTP uses all the waiverable equipment.

The GT350 looks pro, too much car for most.

These Ring pics are the main reason I came back. I was told about the possibility last week.

Some bad 6th Gen Camaro rumors... After the ATS-V was caught testing, it was said it will use a TT V6. This suggest that while the Alpha can take a V8, the Alpha ATS cannot. Its a very small car according to some and interior is an issue.

Look for an even larger Camaro next Gen. Based on a shared CTS platform. Yippie!!! That's 115 inch wheelbase and 190 inches overall.

They must be out of their f'n minds... What a dumb move. It just depresses me to no end... That's a 4000lbs 2017 V8 Camaro fella's. Another pork sausage on wheels.
