I believe it was the RR tire that rolled over on itself and got jammed up into the wheel well, but when unrolled and I assume remounted it still held air. Zfat drove it home.

The Silver Survivor ran a little hot, 240-250 water, 275-285 oil. He claims the oil temps spiked above that but didn't give a number. I assume the oil temp gauge pegs out at 300. It was a hot day, over 100* I think he said... He also had A/C so, It might not be an airflow issue rather than a oil flow/dry sump issue. The LS7 was designed for a 3300lbs Corvette, not a 3900lbs Camaro.

Unless air flow is just very poor on 2014+ 5th Gens.

The Boss driver waved the z28 by (only way to pass in HPDE and shown in video) with the intention of videoing him staying on him. Even if the Boss got on him, he'd never allow a pass. A video like that is priceless to a forum owner...

The Mustang exiled the Camaro from drag racing, they spent 4 years developing a track car (dumb). Finally one arrives at open track (dumb, no competition) and it is pressured from a '12 Boss that's probably been out there since 2011...

...when the 3rd z28 development started. The ZL1 was renamed, betting the 1LE was too. The LS7 was needed and according to it's showing in CTCSS, it wasn't enough.

Does anybody trust the lap times from Car and Drivers Lightning Lap?
Not as anything other than a possible benchmark. They are done on different days and not always by the same driver. Also, VIR has just had some repaving with some areas opened up a little bit. Oak Tree comes to mind. It used to be that if you went a little wide at exit you would drop tires of the edge into dirt. Now there is pavement beyond what used to be track edge. This can give a big advantage on that straight as you can go a touch wider, therefore reducing your arc slightly and getting to the throttle sooner.

Camaro Recall Today... All 511,528 of them. Wait... How many did they sell again? 400,000? Lol!!! Buy buy profits. That's 1/5th of production not selling. Sales leader isn't gonna help them here, good to recall them anyway. They put a STOP SELL on all Camaro's, even the z28. Maybe next season boys...

The 6th Gens budget just got even smaller... It will be a reskinned CTS at this rate.

With the new weights already out, I don't think it's far fetched to anticipate a 3500-3600 US Curb Weight GT350. Keep in mind, like many other low volume specialty car, the difference won't be as great. There will simply be less options to figure into the US Curb and, far lighter standard equipment. Some of that will offset Performance equipment weight gains.

Could we be looking at a 400lbs gap between the GT350 and z28? Possibly same power levels... Let's get this car out the door around $50,000.

As I explained in the S550 Chassis School Thread, there was a lot of structure weight removed based on standard equipment and US standard requirements.

I'm afraid the GT with tires by itself may pressure a z28. If we look at the Boss video's, it held it's own. That's quite sad for twice the cash.

I believe the z28 guys have found a fix for the 300+ oil temps. As stated in the z28 owners manual, oil should be changed to a full synthetic, 15w50 motor oil. Someone suggested that it was recommended that they pit and cool down above 275. I'm not sure if that's an actual OEM recommendation, I will have to check.

300 is bad, very bad. I knew that would be a serious issue if not addressed. I'm also pleased my warning was heeded and not bickered to death from butt-hurt.

I see no way a stock gt with tires is going to pressure the z28 with the same driver. (High oil temp aside) reviews of the z28 with pro drivers are exceptional for the weight of the camaro. I can't see the stock gt beating a 2014 gtr like the z28 has. Better tires bring quicker times but things like ccb really help the z28. Idk if we will be seeing 400lb difference between the gt350 and the z28. Hopefully we do but that would mean ford would be putting on light weight material to counter the extra weight from the bigger engine ect vs the regular gt...and this would raise the price considerably. I don't see the gt350 directly competing with the z28 because I think ford will go for a non striped out version unlike the z28. Then later down the line I see ford brining out a track ready gt350 that's striped out. I think the gt350 will be $50k but I also think it's going to be another hundred or so lbs heavier then the gt. But I do believe it could easily have as much power as the ls7.

My inside Ford sources tell me the GT350 is a pull out all the stops car and the price will be north of $70,000.
I wouldn't be surprised. When we saw the carbon ceramic brakes in the 1st spy photos I figured it was going to be expensive. I suspect it will be worth it too.

If rumors are true, a '15 GT with R rubber was faster than a Boss 302S. That is seriously fast for a $40,000 car.

I'm not sure about that. 302S' are 'racecars' that run on wide Pirelli racing slicks, have a big splitter and rear wing, a dry sump, battery in the trunk and close to 50/50 weight distribution. I don't think a '15 GT on a r-comp would be as fast.
