Not as anything other than a possible benchmark. They are done on different days and not always by the same driver. Also, VIR has just had some repaving with some areas opened up a little bit. Oak Tree comes to mind. It used to be that if you went a little wide at exit you would drop tires of the edge into dirt. Now there is pavement beyond what used to be track edge. This can give a big advantage on that straight as you can go a touch wider, therefore reducing your arc slightly and getting to the throttle sooner.Does anybody trust the lap times from Car and Drivers Lightning Lap?
there is a reason they are called the SCRAPMARO.they are Garbage Machines.:lol:Camaro Recall Today... All 511,528 of them. Wait... How many did they sell again? 400,000? Lol!!! Buy buy profits. That's 1/5th of production not selling. Sales leader isn't gonna help them here, good to recall them anyway. They put a STOP SELL on all Camaro's, even the z28. Maybe next season boys...
The 6th Gens budget just got even smaller... It will be a reskinned CTS at this rate.
I see no way a stock gt with tires is going to pressure the z28 with the same driver. (High oil temp aside) reviews of the z28 with pro drivers are exceptional for the weight of the camaro. I can't see the stock gt beating a 2014 gtr like the z28 has. Better tires bring quicker times but things like ccb really help the z28. Idk if we will be seeing 400lb difference between the gt350 and the z28. Hopefully we do but that would mean ford would be putting on light weight material to counter the extra weight from the bigger engine ect vs the regular gt...and this would raise the price considerably. I don't see the gt350 directly competing with the z28 because I think ford will go for a non striped out version unlike the z28. Then later down the line I see ford brining out a track ready gt350 that's striped out. I think the gt350 will be $50k but I also think it's going to be another hundred or so lbs heavier then the gt. But I do believe it could easily have as much power as the ls7.With the new weights already out, I don't think it's far fetched to anticipate a 3500-3600 US Curb Weight GT350. Keep in mind, like many other low volume specialty car, the difference won't be as great. There will simply be less options to figure into the US Curb and, far lighter standard equipment. Some of that will offset Performance equipment weight gains.
Could we be looking at a 400lbs gap between the GT350 and z28? Possibly same power levels... Let's get this car out the door around $50,000.
As I explained in the S550 Chassis School Thread, there was a lot of structure weight removed based on standard equipment and US standard requirements.
I'm afraid the GT with tires by itself may pressure a z28. If we look at the Boss video's, it held it's own. That's quite sad for twice the cash.
I hope he's correct on the former, but wrong on the latter! My inside Ford sources tell me the GT350 is a pull out all the stops car and the price will be north of $70,000.
I wouldn't be surprised. When we saw the carbon ceramic brakes in the 1st spy photos I figured it was going to be expensive. I suspect it will be worth it too.My inside Ford sources tell me the GT350 is a pull out all the stops car and the price will be north of $70,000.
If rumors are true, a '15 GT with R rubber was faster than a Boss 302S. That is seriously fast for a $40,000 car.I see no way a stock gt with tires is going to pressure the z28 with the same driver. I'm not sure about that. 302S' are 'racecars' that run on wide Pirelli racing slicks, have a big splitter and rear wing, a dry sump, battery in the trunk and close to 50/50 weight distribution. I don't think a '15 GT on a r-comp would be as fast.If rumors are true, a '15 GT with R rubber was faster than a Boss 302S. That is seriously fast for a $40,000 car.
