First off, I don't really like ford makes you choose a pack, I am sure a lot of people here would like the best of both worlds, and are willing to pay for it.

After a little bit of research, I realized:

1. the diff cooler, most likely is just a heat fin cover, easy install, 300 USD tops

2. the tower to tower brace will be an easy install too

3. the engine oil cooler (kinda shocked at 8250rpm they don't come with oil cooler stock), most likely will be a direct fit if you just buy the track pack parts. after market engine oil cooler goes for about 500usd. it looks like this

4. the only thing that will not be easy to mod is the tranny oil cooler, since the tranny design is different between the track and non-track packs, also requires a pump.

so at the end, it really comes down to

track pack tranny cooler vs. tech pack Nav/head unit + seats

and for me personally, knowing the nav/head unit maybe a PITA to upgrade, I will probably go for the tech pack and install the brace/diff cooler/engine cooler after.

While your train of thought is good, I think the diff cooler will be more like the 14 GT500 PP. that finned cover you showed, plus the lines, pump and heat exchanger.

After some thought, I may order a Track Pack. I've never used the Nav in my current car. And because Recaro.

Not having magnaride keeps the base price lower which is a big plus for those who actually track their cars. Means more money for consumables like tires and brakes.

According to Car and Driver's report from the May 6 GT350 event at Ford, the differential cool is a separate unit: "The differential cooler sits behind the rear axle, above the diffuser. It’s fed by a pair of NACA ducts on the GT350’s underside."

It looks like the Integrated Driver Control System isn't included on the base model either. If it were part of the base package (along with the MagneRide, of course), that's what I'd order. Now I'm leaning toward the Tech package - and having to pay $5,000 or so extra for a bunch of stuff I don't want or need.

I feel you man, but that's the new reality now, car makers do this to save time on the assembly line, so it in terms saves money.

I just read the c&d article, it says
"The R model gets the third-generation MagneRide suspension, the first Ford application for this technology"

so does it mean non-R gets 2nd gen? confused.

That doesn't make any sense. If all you want is magneride and IDC then just get the track pack.

You're right - I didn't say that quite right. In this part of the country, I'm also liking the idea of the cooled seats...but I don't like the Track Pack spoiler.

I wished they offered a Track Pak Lite (minus magneride). As it is now, I'd probably just stick with the base 350. Mine will hit the strip once in a while but probably never see a road course (well maybe a track day once). I'd be willing to bet if you bought just the diff/engine cooler kits separately from Ford it would be around $2k or more (especially with ducts etc), and I'd not want to go aftermarket.

is the magneride not good for track use? thinking of doing coilovers? i figure the base gt350 will be the second lightest configuration next to the base R, so its not all bad. the most i will ever do is autox along the usual spirited driving, dont need all the coolers for that, i wouldnt think.

It's pretty shit that you have to lose the Recaros if you want the tech package. I really wonder WTF Ford is thinking with the optioning strategies for the GT and GT350...

Will the track pack equipped car be significantly lighter than the tech pack equipped car?

Depending on how much more the tech pack power seats weigh, as compared to the Recaros, the track pack might actually be slightly heavier, once you factor in the weight of the heat exchangers, pumps, and extra oil for the engine, transmission, and diff coolers.

Good point. Looking forward to Ford publishing the specs!

they did say, the R was 130 lbs lighter.
Curious what configurations the used for weights.
