Just an FYI about the GT350 tires.

I totally understand summer tires and not driving in winter weather, along with reduced traction when tires and/or roads are cold.

I did not realize until after buying the GT350 the true sensitivity of these Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires. Fortunately, I had already planned on not driving the car much after this weekend here in Missouri until spring rolls around. I noticed in the owner's manual these tires were not to be used in temps below 45 degrees. I called Michelin and was told they would get surface cracks if driven when temps are below 40 degrees.

I will have to do some more research on this, but I also saw stated on a forum these tires should be stored indoors above 20 degrees (this seems fairly extreme). I will be heating my garage enough to prevent freezing this winter.

Anyone have any more info confirming this information?

Thanks for the info, I remember reading somewhere in the manual a warning about driving under 50F ambient temps. I did some driving here north of Dallas this weekend when it was around 45-50F and I had plenty of grip, more than I expected.

I'm interested in this topic, hopefully we get some more info.

Definitely do not drive these tires in temps below 40F - they are hockey pucks in that weather and you might crack a lot more than just the tires.

I have heard of the MPSC tires cracking in extreme cold but not the MPSS. If your town reaches the 20's I think a heated garage is a safe bet.

Not trying to poo poo anybody here, and obviously there is truth in what the manufacurer recommends. But I don't think you need to worry too much. Remember, these cars are built in Michigan and stored outdoors for extended periods in some cases. I personally picked my car up in late January in Chicago. I drove it home, about an hours drive in temps well below 40 degrees. No, the tires did not instantly crumble and I had plenty of grip. Afterward the car spent months sitting in my non-heated garage, with an occasional weekend drive. Starting very soon it will be stored again in my garage for another winter, probably with no ill effects.

I have been driving my 350 around Chicago since the first week of January and still have it out as my daily driver. I plan to semi-store it away in a couple out weeks for the winter. Last week we had temps in the 20's, I think the car is more fun to drive in the colder weather, you can play easier when you slip and slide a bit. I am watching the tires closely and I haven't seen any negative impact on the tires due to the cold weather.

My car was dropped off at the dealer on 2/9 in their snow covered parking lot. I drove it more than once in temps below 40, but not by much. Grip was Ok. I would use caution below 40.
