looks about the right size for an intercooler... tho i think that would go in the lower part of the facia... maybe a bit more airflow to cool some turbos

or just a preprod mule using a different design that was tested
I think the GT500 will be completely unique below the bumper cover. They very well could be doing the initial testing in plain sight.

Again, great eye!! I have no idea why it's like that...

Pro cars use a fuel cut off in that location if I'm not mistaken.
Yes, as do test cars.

If I had to guess...it's just a GT350R with a test package.

Likely a master battery/ignition disconnect, fuel drain, data recorder plug and fuel pump disconnect.

The opening in the grill is larger and rectangular.
black R grill vs yellow non-R

Per the leaked order guide, some colors have a stripe option and some don't. For example you can't get any stripes on a red or orange R.

Interesting...the R radiator support opening is indeed larger than the non R.

You can tell it's the same grill due to the location of the badge, but the support surround is different.

To my eyes, the radiator opening on the R is wider, but the opening on the non R (yellow car) is taller. On the yellow car, the opening extends down closer to the bumper and does not have the "hump" in the middle. I tried counting the number of hexagons over each opening to estimate the area of each, and by these very rudimentary calculations, the opening on the yellow car appears to have a larger total area, despite being slightly narrower.

My guess is NO WAY is there any difference in the 2.. the waste of time to make them different and then to implement a work order to have one for the "R" and one for then NON "R" would be not worth work. Plus it would of been leak out that the nose is different by now.

I agree that on the production cars, I can't see the cost effectiveness of implementing 2 different openings. However, I was referring to the visible differences noted in the pictures on the previous page. I suspect those are 2 different candidates for the final production version.

The R Package involves different cooling elements, does it not? I'd wager the difference in opening is because of that. The slight change, along with the different lower chin splitter/additional aero elements of the R, may very well do better with a slightly different airflow through, up, and out of the engine compartment.

The R package comes with the additional cooling equipment also included in the track package. You could be correct that they have tailored the opening to the additional cooling equipment. Time will tell.
