Some look better then others, and I'm not sure if its just the stance or color.

I think your post is directed at me. I'm used to seeing an odd, non-rectangular opening in the grill where there are two larger areas on the ends. Here's a couple photos of the show R at Detroit. It's not the most clear image of the grill I've seen in a photo, but I got tired of sorting through all the photos on here. Most of the time the grill is in partial or full shadow, which makes it a little difficult to see the opening. I outlined it in red in one of the images.

I was speculating that there are test cars out there with the GT350 body but with a different powertrain that requires more cooling. GT500?

Jeeze, sharp eyes!

That black car was one of the early prototypes running around with all the heavy camo. Anything's possible but most likely, they just settled on the current opening after that car was made.

Yeah you're probably right.

My eyes aren't that sharp. I'm just a fanatic soaking up every bit of GT350 info I can find. :D

Is this an old photo...Im mean what are they trying to hide? the cars is every where....on the internet and car magazines....
They're telemetry, OBD and data recorder plugs. All prototype cars have them and this is just an old test car still being used.

While they're super close to production the GT350 is still 100% in developmental testing and is still under durability testing. The uncammo'd cars are CTF units and these are still initial test units.

Now this may not be a GT350 that is testing..it could be a GT500 or Mach 1 or whatever the next SVT Mustang is going to be called. It's still useful, and that is good for it, because when it is no longer useful it's going to be stripped of usable components and then destroyed.

CTF cars, if they're still in good shape and low miles, can be sent back to the factory and brought up to full production specification. They'll then be sent to dealers as either demo cars or to be sold with a special title and the knowledge they were PrePro cars

Great f@ckin' eye!!! I have no idea why that is like that.
looks about the right size for an intercooler... tho i think that would go in the lower part of the facia... maybe a bit more airflow to cool some turbos

or just a preprod mule using a different design that was tested

Again, great eye!! I have no idea why it's like that...

Pro cars use a fuel cut off in that location if I'm not mistaken.
