OEM front bar is 639lb/in - FWIW.

I can also provide the rates for the OEM bar modded, if anyone wants to know those.

Wheel rate contribution or just rate @ the bar? What about rears?

Thanks Kelly.

Those are just rates at the bar - industry standard stuff.

Of course, you have a % of deflection in the mounting points to account for also - which OEMs and us aftermarket companies do not advertise simply due to variables and inconsistencies.

I cannot recall the rear rates, but I will post them in here tomorrow.

Ok so I called Hotchkis this morning and waited for 10-12 minutes to get you this info. you requested (I will waive my fee for you this one time) :) Anyway Hotchkis was very professional and some what helpful. They asked me to ask you how are you getting to those numbers? In other words how are you or whoever does your testing getting the testing results. I guess they mean what is the process because Hotchkis tests theirs by industry standards. In other words pounds per inch of deflection.

The front swaybars are the same diameter, but the swaybar mounts are stiffer and tighter on the PP.

The rear swaybars are different diameters as you noted.

So did they give you the rates, or not?

We use a formula to determine our bar spring rates (lbs/in). OF course, I dont sit and draw out the formula for every bar we do, we have a calculator that we created to use in house. Super easy. Plug some measurements in, and it spits the rate out.

Of course, the answer is only as good as the data that is input. Kinda like, finite element analysis.

The engineer I spoke with said that your testing was not industry standard for sure. But that does not mean anything negative only means you have a different way of gathering your rates. I left the rates in my truck and forgot to get them out earlier. Anyway Front Sway Bar: 640 stiffest and 575 for softest Rear Bar: 235 Stiffest and 200 softest now these #s are pounds for inch of deflection. He mentioned that there was no way the BMR bar has double the stiffness being 1.5mm smaller and both being hollow. Difference is the different testing methods. Hope this helps.

So are they measuring the rate physically, or is it calculated?

I'm not sure what they mean. I can tell you that our calcs matched Fords claim for the previous platform (s197) within 1%. So if that isn't industry standard, then it's ironically close.

Regardless, our calcs are meant for comparing OEM to our bars. So if we measure the OEM bar in the same fashion we measure ours, then that gives us the data that we need.

To touch on the impossible, if our lever arm lengths are shorter and wall thickness is thicker, it is absolutely possible. ;)

He was laughing when he said there is no way theirs is double the rate while smaller and both being hollow. Reason I picked Hotchkis is because I had great experience with them in the past. When I entered the Mustang community I had never heard of BMR. So I went with what I knew worked. Now with that said I decided to stay with the BMR cradle lockout kit why? Because it works. Very noticeable difference. Thanks. Maybe you can PM me a 25% discount code for calling Hotchkis for ya? ;)

I love how Kelly at BMR throws all his cards on the table with everything. You don't hide behind stories and you always use data that is tangible and comparable. You don't even push your product as hard as some of the vendors here and I really appreciate that. Keep on keeping on.
