He means did they find the damage before they started the engine so as not to make anything worse. I think it likely they discovered the damage on disassembling it.

Not sure, they found it on the re-assembly they said.

At this point I'm surprised they're not just replacing the engine.

They should just give me my money back, Ive lost all confidence in the platform and Ford as a company.

It doesn't explain why this FOD would show its ugly head after 1000 miles and an oil change and not before.
It's possible something could have been sitting inside the intake system or manifold, and it didn't go through until maybe the first time you really got on it a few times. Just a theory. But for sure if things got chewed up including the head, then there had to be some kind of debris going through the cylinder.

Did they inspect the pistons, rings, spark plugs and valves in those cylinders to make sure something on them didn't come off to cause the damage?

Let's take it a step further, lost confidence in American vehicle brands.

I don't think it's just America. When I got my first Veloster Nov. 2011 it had just come out, I was one of first people with one. Put the money on it in October but took a month to come over on the ship. I was in once a month for recalls/TSBs/or other warranty things. The worse was when the brake caliper went and I almost couldn't stop and had to drive 50 miles to the dealership with it rubbing against the rotor. Just one of those risks you take when you get a first year car. A co worker of mine is waiting for the 2016 exclusively for this reason. I do think Ford should comp you tho at this point. I don't think you should have to make a car payment for something you can't drive for a month. I know you;ve been fighting this for a while.

I think it was the light at 19 & Breakwater by Target. The car was southbound in the a.m.

Update: Got the car back and the noise is not only STILL there but even louder now.

[ame]https://vimeo.com/132040832[/ame]

Almost 40 days out of service, at the dealer, only to get a nice ding/nick on the drivers side door

And my front bumper paint is starting to bubble and flake

This is the list of parts replaced on the vehicle:

Needless to say, I am livid. I have lost complete confidence in Ford as a company and this vehicle. I am proceeding with lemon law and currently awaiting Fords decision whether they'd rather issue a buy back before I go to arbitration, or deny me. Regardless, I am within the law. I will receive an update from them before July 8th 2015. I will provide a final update once I resolve this nightmare of a purchase.

Wow I don't know what else to say. I'm completely shocked they decided to r&or the engine given all they found instead of doing a long or short block. Stupid dealer.

They said the "short block" was replaced. They also claimed since the heads were on back order, they ordered new cams and other parts to "rebuild" them. I'm just done, I really am. I feel unsafe driving that car, feels like a ticking time bomb.

I'd feel more confident in the rental Hyundai Accent I was given for 37 days. Heck, I'd feel more comfortable in a bicycle at this point.

Speak to a ford rep and do like you said with the lemon law. I had lemond my svt focus back in 2004 with success. Best of luck. I will be getting a borescope to look in my cylinders soon.
