After hearing and reading the first like 5 posts, to me, it seems like the driver side exhaust manifold is leaking. Certainly isn't a very common issue with low mile, factory manifolds, but I have seen it in the past.

This latest development with the check engine light and rough idle rpm could also support that conclusion. The MAF and front o2s could be metering two different amounts of air. These PCMs are one of the pickiest I've ever dealt with and even the slightest metering change effects idle rpm.

Did you read the code?

So we are talking about the headers connection to the engine block having a leak?

Btw - Dropped car off at Autonation Ford in Margate, service manager is handling my case personally. I really hope this is my last stop and issue will be taken care of. Updates to follow.

The last video you posted from in car, just sounds like exhaust resonance. I don't hear a metal on metal knocking.

Exhaust resonance from where? I've mentioned I removed my H-pipe and sound was sill noticeable throughout the RPM band and idle. The issue is either within the engine or between headers and my H-Pipe. I honestly don't believe it to be exhaust.

Yep, that's what I'm referring to.

A customer brought us a Mustang in the past, an '11 GT, that had 1300 miles on it making a very similar sound. It already had a cold air and tune, so he avoided the dealer. The driver's side exhaust manifold gasket was cracked at the bottom of the 3rd primary. The manifolds were never previously off the car. The gaskets are layered steel, so it is very, very uncommon, but defective OEM parts occasionally happen.

The tone of the sound seems to be 'air' in nature, opposed to a metal on metal sound. Unfortunately, there are many things that can effect the way something sounds between your car and my laptop speakers lol.

I know, its tough to get a good sound byte from laptop speakers vs in person. I passed on the suggestion to the dealer. They are dropping the oil pan tomorrow and looking to make sure there no issue in the bottom end as in rods/pistons/crank. I suggested also valve-train towards the drivers side firewall, it seems excessively loud. The service manager mentioned other cars on the lot were making a similar sound, just mine was WAY louder. I will get an update tomorrow and pass it on. My only resort if the dealer cannot figure it out is asking them to please replace the header gaskets and see if that makes a difference.

I use a mechanics stethoscope all the time. They are a godsend. There has never been a sound that I couldn't pin point the source.

I wish the dealer had someone who could use the tool correctly myself. Their results were "inconclusive", that the sound was coming from "inside the engine".

Today they are dropping the oil pan, confirmed with Ford CSM and will be getting back some feedback by EOD.

Sad to say that only old school mechanics know how to use one....or even have one at that.

I still have one from when I had a 260z back in 84.

I used to use a long screwdriver with rubber handle. Works the same.

Hmmmm that's interesting, never heard of that before. The point is, they'll dismiss anything I say anyway unless they can replicate it. Even if I find something on my own, unless they conclude the same, I am at their mercy. Doesn't mean I won't give a fit and out up resistance, what is right is right and that's it in my book.

On another note, I am just missing my car man... Just made the payment today and I got a Hyundai Accent in my driveway.
Same here! Haven't had it for 2 weeks and it's always such a sad commute to work in my mazda3.

I'll take that Zoom zoom 3 any day over the junk I got. Not to be ungrateful, but when you get used to power, there's no going back.

Pick up a mechanics stethoscope from Auto Zone for about 15 bucks. You'll wonder how you got through life without it. You can go to to shop and put your finger on noise maker for them. The reason they don't have them in the shop is because the mechanics steel them and take them home. LOL
