GT Ground clearance

Hello guys,

Can you guys please tell me the ground clearance of the RHD Mustang GT. My current Holden Commodore is touching the ground when I enter into my apartment. The ground clearance of the Holden is 3.9inches. If I know the ground clearance of the GT, it will be helpful for me.

Guys who had already received their pony, can you please help me out on this?

I tried that GTSALLY, but all the posts were from owners of non-Australian mustangs. I thought the specs may vary for us.

I will wait before doing that just as a precaution. I will stop the car at the exact point where the scrapping may occur and measure the gap left and then I will decide.

BTW have you decided the lowering spring you are gonna get?

At this point I'm keen on BMRs minimal drop front spring (SP089 - 20mm) and their performance rear (SP082 - 12mm).

You would swear that my driveway was purpose designed to bottom cars out but I don't scrape at all.

It's a modern day miracle.

Krishv88, are you trying to keep the car legal or are you only concerned with scraping?
There may well be 180mm to the underside of the splitter but that isn't the lowest point on the vehicle.
I rolled a piece of 100mm OD pipe under an Ecoboost at the dealers and found that you won't get much more than an inch drop if you want to remain above that magical 100mm mark.
Couldn't measure a GT, they don't have one....

Thanks for the info. My only concern is scraping. Lowering the car is not important to me when compared to car getting scrapped.

Also 100mm is almost the same as that of my Holden. Bit worried now

Also keep in mind that the difference in wheel base and track compared to other cars will negate the measurement comparisons unless you're talking about going square over a speed hump shorter than the shorter wheelbase. Introduce any angles into it and it will all vary

Lowest point I could find on my GT is 145mm just behind front wheels.

Lip is 180mm at most forward point, lowering to 160mm just in front of front wheels ( where concrete parking bay stop would come to).

So if 145mm is the lowest point of the vehicle.

you can lower 45mm and still be legal. (100mm ground clearance limit)

45mm = 1.77165 inch

Good to know.A 1.5 inch drop is legal at least.....assuming 145mm is in fact the lowest (stock) point of the car.

Keep in mind that there is no camber adjustment.

Depending on how much you drop it camber plates may be needed.
