CJ Pony Parts has an install video that recommends just prying the rear GT emblem off (7:00 minute mark). [ame]

Has anyone tried this?

All of the other threads show removing the entire decklid. Really curious if this works as smoothly as the video. Concerned about damaging the decklid.

Removing the panel takes about 10 minutes. Less once you know what you are doing.

I wouldn't take it quite so literally. Notice that Bill is using the plastic scraping tool to break lose the 2 sided tape's bond. I think the point of prying it off is to break off those tabs rather than trying to get to the back of the panel. Personally, I like using heat combined with a heavy fishing line to break the bond of double sided tape. i take a piece of string about 3' long, wrap the ends around each of my hands and use a sawing motion after heating it up with a hair dryer or a heat gun on low setting.

There is no adhesive on the back badge. It is held on by melted plastic tabs.

Oh, I guess that was dirt/wax that accumulated around the edges. In the video, it looked like 2 sided tape. Thanks for pointing that out.

I have an EcoBoost, so I have the horse on the back. Same process as removing the GT emblem. When I removed mine, I just put painters tape around the emblem and used a trim removal tool to take it remove it. Then I stuck the new emblem on. As long as you're careful and take your time, it'll be fine. There's really no need to take the entire panel off.

I did the same as some others and used a plastic trim removal tool. Popped off in seconds.

No scratches and I didn't have to remove any body panels!

Though I hear many people have misaligned panels from the factory so maybe it would be a good idea. :D
