Hi Guys,

I did a search on "emblem removal", and I can't believe I didn't get results. Anyhow, I have an ingot silver GT with the black PP wheels and the chrome 5.0 emblems really don't go well with the car. How hard are they to remove? I haven't decided if I want to replace them with black ones, or leave them off completely. Thanks in advance for any help!

use a hairdryer to get it warm, use fishing line to cut through the adhesive and goo gone to removed the leftover residue.

It's not difficult at all. Heat gun waved back and forth from 12" away for a few minutes to loosen the adhesive, and then a delicate job of sliding dental floss behind the emblem to cut the loosened adhesive. Afterwards, take your time with some gasoline or goo gone to remove the remaining adhesive and you're good to go. The front and rear emblems are easy too, couple of YouTube videos out there explain it all. Overall, an enjoyable evening project.

Did anyone purchase the black original Ford 5.0 emblems? I'm interested to know if they have the alignment pegs on the back so I can just line them up that way.

Thanks for the heads up about the locating pins. I guess removing them and going without is not an option. Has anybody tried removing the badges, painting them, and then reinstalling with new 3M adhesive tape?

In that case it's probably better to paint/plasti-dip them in place on your car. Lots of examples here and on YouTube.

I got mine from UPR. No pins to align them, But I just boxed in the OE emblem with tape and used that as a guide.

Plasti-Dip is an option, but not a long lasting one. The sharp edges on the emblems catch on things and can expose the chrome underneath. Then your playing catch-up trying to cover that edge up and it eventually becomes more of a PIA then it's worth. There are the Ford OEM black emblems and also after market options like the coyote badges.

I know everyone on this board LOVES the Cobra badges........ ;)
