Will be interesting to see if the prices go up after the recent events in the UK

The prices will go up, that's for sure.
I've tried 95 and 98 and not noticed a difference. In an air cooled big twin motorcycle, there is a noticeable difference.

What bike?
I have got a 1690 CC Harley Davidson Fat Bob and I run that on 95 thinking its a big dumb engine so could run on anything

Am I wrong?

Paid ÂŁ117.9 for VPower yesterday but next week fuel will skyrocket due to oil prices and $ strengthening.
As far as mpg goes last few tanks
VPower (town) 27.6mpg
Shell 95 (town) 26.6mpg
Shell 95 (town) 27.8mpg
Shell 95 (motorway) 38.4mpg
VPower (town) 26.6mpg

Nothing in it really

There was a noticeable difference between the two on my diesel X-Type so I'm damn sure I won't be using the cheap stuff in a 5-litre V8!

I doubt there's much in the way of power to be gained but you may notice a difference in MPG. The question is, do the extra miles outweigh the extra cost?
I have identified where the problems you were having with either 95 or 98 were coming from,

I usually use higher octane due to listening to advice on this forum and the money difference dont matter much to me but I dont really notice much difference.

If there isnt a pump free, I just put normal stuff in.

Any more views on this? I always used super in turbo'd performance cars in the past, but not sure if the V8 will see any power benefit through ignition advance?

Its tuned for regular. So use regular. Higher RON wont change a damn thing unless you have something like a BAMA 93 (97RON).

Unless your car is specifically tuned for it, don't use it. Just go by what the manual says. Its that simple.

Only ever use super in any of my cars.
Have seen the damage regular fuel has caused to cars (which were specifically stated to use super 350z)
I know the mustang CAN be run on regular but I won't ever put it in there
When I was at Modurstang a Supercharged Stang come in, and me Mike and the owner had a long chat about 95 v 98, what Mike said for our cars 95 is fine, its all to do with the spark, only issue is when you put 95 in a supercharged Stang, then you can blow the engine
Have used petrol from any garage regular and no issues, car drives fine, and Mike tends to know what he is talking about i find

As I approach my first fill up in the GT, thought I would resurrect this thread to see if any more views on the 95v98 debate!:headbonk:

I know the car Ecu will need a few tanks of super before anything happens, so hopefully those on super have had a few fill ups to see if any improvement in smoothness/efficiency/performance:thumbsup:

Ive been mixing it up in mine.... 10 tanks of 98 followed by 10 tanks of 95 (etc).

Noticed precisely zero difference.

Once remapped, I can imagine itll be a different story, but on a std. 5.0 I reckon a decent branded 95 is just fine.

No difference on mine, rank several tanks of both to test, currently fill up once a week & i only use Shell. V Nitro+ is currently about 20p litre more expensive than regular.
