Well, by comparison. I have a 25-mile commute that is hilly country roads, about 5 miles of highway driving, and then 5 miles of creeping-death bumper-to-bumper congestion, during which you sit still for several seconds, then creep forward a couple get when the car in front of you finally moves a little bit. Sheer hell. Or as we call it in Pittsburgh, The Parkway East.
I’m getting 19mpg on this commute. And going from Pittsburgh to Altoona and back (80 miles up the mountains and then back) I’m averaging 26.5mpg! I’m blown away by that. In my 2017 Explorer XLT AWD V6, I’m only getting 16-17, and 22, respectively on these two trips. Some magic going on here! Now I can tell the wife, “see honey, it’s saving us money on gas!”

Yeah, the V8 Mustangs do really well on gas. It's all about aerodynamics and weight really. With the Mustang being much less blocky, lighter and naturally aspirated, it makes for a great fuel economy combo. The Explorers with the "EcoBoost" 3.5 are anything but eco. I had one for a week and got 14 mpg.

I feel your pain on the commute, I had to deal with the Parkway East on my commute about 5 years ago, never again. Part of the reason the clutch in my Mini died so fast I think.

My last car was a twin turbo v6 and TRYING i'd get 17.1MPG. I'm on my 2nd tank and not really caring how I drive and I'm already at 17.3 while making more power.

That’s good. But isn’t that the advertised highway MPG on these cars? I once got 28-29 on the highway, with cruise set to about 68-69 mph. Mine isn’t a Bullitt though, a GT.

If you're basing those numbers on the mileage the car is calculating for you, don't forget they're all off by about 1 mpg. Several threads tell you how to adjust it. I'm amazed Ford hasn't been sued since so many Mustangs (all of them?) are wrong.

Being off by ~1pmg is normal in most cars. I've never seen one that was dead on to my calculation. That includes 2014 Altima, 2018 Infiniti Q50, 2018 F250, 2012 CRV, 2016 Civic. The most accurate any them were to my own calculations was the Civic being off by only .3. The Infiniti was off by almost 1.2mpg. They ALL were over estimating MPG.

interesting reading on the MPG l have euro car with 3.54 diff which is longer legged than you guys in the USA & have covered 1700 miles & l am only getting 21.8 mpg which is the highest figure l have achieved. I find whether l am on a long run or in traffic my mpg moves very little.
