For this reason. The 500 caliper clearance is much, much tighter.
Nice write up. I was already planning to get a set of the base GT500 wheels if I get a carbon fiber track pack car.
I wish you could order the car with the base wheels and the carbon fiber wing.

Literally only seconds to remove each fastener and this wing is long gone.

A better design (for a car that will be parked unattended on the street at times) would be a trunk monkey.
There fixed it for you.

Anyone tried to steal my wing or wheels.....

Two words...Trunk Monkey

Holy shit.
It was just a cosmetic issue with the ceramic that was repaired back to OEM specification from a qualified carbon fiber repair facility.

I would reserve "holy shit" for a wheel that sustained major damage. The 500 with tighter caliper clearances certainly qualifies as a high risk proposition in that matter. I wonder what Ford is going to do when they are inundated with warranty claims for wheel damage from rocks being kicked up into the caliper from the sport cup 2's.....

Well, that was a cumulative "Holy Shit" that included:
  • Surprise - no matter how cosmetic - by the damaged caused by a small pebble
  • Lack of warranty consideration by Ford (aka, "You're on your own ...")
  • The potential for severe damage given the caliper-to-wheel clearance we've seen on the GT500 (vs. the GT350 ...)

Gt500 20" wheels should make the clearance issue no worse than gt350. I haven't seen gt500 in person yet to compare so ...?
It's worse, it's like 10 atoms of clearance ...

1 post, who are you? Just stumbled upon this thread and subject matter?

Well then, here you go. I could go out and photograph the R's I have out in the garage, but I know it ain't anywhere near or in the same universe as the 500. The photo below is closer to 6GR clearances. The photo below is from one of the auto shows. Clearance is non existent and a problem waiting to happen.

Yes, I was (and am) on my own on this. Ford wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole. But I don't use social media to pressure anyone into doing anything. This is all after the fact. I have another issue going on with another car, but I won't pull the millennial YouTube crap and start a bunch of crap to get my way.

Yes, 1st post. Good catch! Me? I've been watching for a while but not new to Mustangs.

I just made an educated guess that 1" larger rotor + 1" larger diameter wheel would provide near equivalent wheel to caliper clearance.

Sounds like my thinking was waay wrong. thanks for the pic

Yes, don't buy that option.

If you want all the other CF stuff, buy the CF track option and then buy a spare decklid and have it painted. Then sell me your wing.
Can I get everything in the CF package, and add the rear seats back in?
