I've had a few encounters in 50 years of driving. A few bad. None life threatening. LoL

The best was the sheriff deputy that gave me a written warning for 110 in a 45 when I had been ~170 MPH. It was on deserted farm road hot rodders used to test mods before dynos. He didn't know how fast I was going just that I was pulling away. I never knew he was back there. He caught up with me later parked at the side of the road eating an apple. I never understood why he didn't arrest or cite me, maybe because he had lost sight (he had); he definitely was never close enough to read the license plate. Had to have a good sense of humor to give a warning for 110 in a 45. LoL

The worst was a bad state cop who worked out in the sticks. Gave me a bogus ticket. He told me I didn't do anything illegal but he didn't like motorcyclists on HIS highway so he gave me a made up speeding ticket. A lawyer acquaintance got it thrown out before trial; have no idea how. About 8 year later, the same cop pulled the exact same thing but this time I had been cruising along for several miles behind a bicycle race. Ran them down afterwards and got several to confirm that. This time I registered a formal complaint and recounted the earlier incident showing a pattern. I got a dismissal letter. Someone told me later, that cop got pulled from traffic duty over an accumulation of complaints.

Don't know if this is better or worse but a cop backed his patrol car into my stationary car when I wasn't in it and tried to concoct a story that I had sped behind him as he was backing up. A buddy in another patrol car said he saw the same thing. I demanded a supervisor. The supervisor shows up and all 3 of us tell our story and the supervisor turns to me and asks if I had a rope. I asked, why? And he says "so we can string these two up". Lots of apologies and quick payment for the repairs.

I caught a ride once with a state trooper after a break down and she said to sit in the back seat. Then she immediately got into a high speed pursuit with a speeder. Got up over 125 by her speedometer but was losing ground and had to radio ahead for cops in the next town to stop him. When we pulled up, they were putting him in a town patrol car and I told her I'll just wait in the car because it was raining. About 10 minutes later I realized there were no inside door handles or window controls. She probably got a kick out of me saying I'll stay in the car. Told everyone I knew I was involved in a high speed pursuit with the Highway Patrol and spent time locked in the back of the cruiser as a result. Helped my street cred a lot.

Had a city cop give me a ticket for something I didn't do but he wasn't lying as much as jumping to a conclusion. I was coming up to a red light in my Syclone to turn right. The 2 man cop car was in the intersection waiting to turn left onto the street I was on right in my line of sight. The driver looked at me slowing down then turned to his partner and they were both laughing as I stopped then turned right (legally). They chased me down and gave me a ticket for not stopping. But I got a lucky judge assignment. I had a recording device in the Syclone that constantly recorded the previous 8 minutes of vehicle telemetry. Now obviously I could have tampered with it before trial but the judge let me submit a print-out showing that I had been stopped for 2 tenths of a second. My theory was they saw me approaching, looked away and then saw me after the turn, and not understanding what a Syclone was assumed I could not be going that fast that soon after a turn if I had stopped. The judge loved it plus I got the cops to contradict themselves on some other things so he found me not guilty. He said he wished I was his last case so he could go check out my Syclone! One of the cops followed me into the court parking lot and gave me his phone number and said to call him so we could meet for coffee "or something". I never did.

I got stopped one time by a stretch limo. I was driving along and was surprised to find a stretch limo following me and flashing the lights and honking like mad. So I turned at the next street and the limo followed. That went on for maybe 5-10 minutes with me turning this way and that (never speeding or failing to stop). Eventually I got stopped at a light behind other cars and the limo driver gets out and runs up and flashes a badge. So I pull over and he's sweating like crazy and mad as a hornet. Turns out he was a State Trooper in a suit who drove for the governor and he said I had changed lanes unsafely so he decided to give me a ticket. But now he was late to pick up the governor, and didn't have time!

That last with the limo is pretty funny. Improper lane change should've been a low priority to him driving the gov'nah's limo and all

i have a lot of cop friends. They for the most part could give a sh!t about writing a speeding ticket. There is no "quota" for writing tickets. But where they do get rated / judged is on bringing in people with warrants.

They are pulling people over looking for the warrants. If the person is even remotely not an idiot they will let them go.
This is literally the only reason I pull people over or if they were just plain being reckless. I give people breaks every single day, don't matter the color. I don't have a quota and the chance of getting shot rate is high here, so every traffic stop, for every officer, no matter where they are is an unknown. No such thing as a routine traffic stop. Be respectful and don't lie. I hate being lied to as do all cops and it's really easy to tell that you're lying. We deal with liars on a daily basis. I could care less about giving someone a speeding ticket or whatever small citation they deserve, but if you do get a ticket from me you pretty much deserved it.

When getting yanked over I always have my hands visible on the wheel, radio off, window down, at night have the interior lights on and greet them with a smile. You take the fear out of the LEO and show him you have no ill intent and treat them with respect, this goes a looooong way. Even when I do get the douche canoes I still act the same way. Shocker here.... I have never had a traffic stop turn bad, yes I have gotten tickets... and they were deserved but I have also dodged my fair share as well. People dont understand, the side of the road is not where you fight and argue about getting a ticket, that is what the courts are for.
Exactly the way to conduct yourself

It is hard to talk your way out of a ticket but damn easy to talk your way into one ;)

I don't give too many breaks if I'm on the motor.
Amen to that lol

Nice, lol. I encountered a pretty cool cop as well just a few days ago. He was in the middle lane going like 40 in a 50 and everyone was too scared to pass him up. I honestly passed him up going like 55mph and then I had to stop for the red light. He pulled up and asked me, "Nice!! What stage is that?" and we chatted up for a bit. Said he had a '14 GT.

I've gotten pretty lucky several times too. There's SO many times where I've floored it and then all of a sudden seen a cop and I KNOW they've seen AND heard me. So many "oh shitt!!" moments. :D
Man, just do what I do when I get pulled over. Tell the cop "You've failed this city!!!" in a deep voice and give them an angry look. Works for me. But, maybe I've been watching too much "Arrow".

Yah, not all cops are dicks. I had a cop leave me off for doing 67 in a 45 because I pulled over before he even pulled out. He said so I guess you know why you pulled over. I said yah, because after slamming on my brakes I seen my speedo coming down over 70 mph. He laughed and said I only clocked you at 67 but I'll take your word for it. Then he told me he was going to let me go since I didn't try to BS him. It was really funny, he couldn't even hold a straight face. I thanked him and haven't sped through that area since.

With that said, I also had a group of cops that gave me a $365 fine for a burn out that a 57 chevy did that was next to me at the light down in oc md car week. After the burn out he turned left and I went straight, all they could see was me pulling out through the smoke.:paddle:

Had something just like this happen to me as well, building speed to climb a mountain., LEO was coming the opposite was and saw him turn around in my mirror. I pull over immediately he pull up then flicks on the lights. He said since he didnt have to chase me down he would let me go....

I've had them let me off after running a red but then get pulled for "touching traffic marker" as to say I didn't stay in my lane
