I put FPV silver agents wheels on my Falcon and they came with Achilles tyres. They were in a really good condition, I thought. It's shocking how much they skid. Lost it twice at a roundabout doing 30km/h. They were terrible especially when wet. So I decided to put a new tyres and after quite a bit of research I went for Dunlop Direzza DZ102. After I swapped the tyres the car feels heaps better and I regained 100% confidence. I couldn't even do a burnout it's how much they stick. Also great tyres in the wet and reasonably priced - if anyone is looking to swap.

It is really important to have confidence and to be able to "know" your car. Once I get my 'stang I'll assess the Pirelli's and might swap them with something more stick-ier, mainly because Melbourne Weather.

So does anyone have any suggestions for replacement tyres that are safe?

No tyre will be safe if your not driving to the road conditions, your ability and the performance limit of the tyre.

So far I have been really impressed with Toyo Proxes T1 Sports in the wet, they have held on in situations when I thought for sure we'd be sliding. In the dry they don't have much grip when they're cold (fair to say most tyres are like this) but once they warm up you really have to be pushing to make them let go. I have 295/30R19 on the back of my ute and they were around the $550 mark each.

Either way tyres make a massive difference to how the car is controlled
Quoted for truth. Good tyres make the car predictable at the limit, the PZEROgrip's are like on/off switches. They're shitful!

Mine will be worn away sooner than than later and replaced with something decent. Was hoping AD08R's but I don't think they're making them with a high enough load rating.

Yup same day.... first time using wet mode actually, was taking a right barely any throttle and I went right across the road, extremely unpredictable and probably one of the last time I'm taking it out when its wet outside until I get some better rubber. The pirelli on the F430 is so much better even in the wet.

Thank you for all the responses.

Sounds like some others have had similar experiences of unexpected break aways.

Personally I've been driving all sorts of performance cars over my 35 years of driving and have never had an accident and I certainly don't want to bend this one!

I think the consensus is the Pirrelli's may be ok in the dry but take care in the wet. The stability control is there and felt like it was helping me rather than taking over but of corse it's no guarantee of immunity from crashing.

FWIW I also have Pirelli PZeroes on my Lexus (from PO) and they appear to be utter rubbish in the wet - understeer into bends (I won't even call them corners), rear-end slips, etc.

I drive it very gently and still have issues... not impressed with the Pirellis at all.

From a BMW M car group (take it or leave it - they are enthusiasts that in many cases track their cars :p) suggestions included:
Michelin Pilot Super Sports (i.e. +1)
ContiSports 5P (what I have on my BMW M Coupe)
AD08Rs (consensus seemed to be not worth it if you're not going to track the car though)

Some commented that the Ecsta PS91s are getting good reviews...
