I got my oil changed last about about 7000 miles. I’m now a little over 10,000 miles. The sticker says I need an oil change at 10,500 miles but the cars computer says I still have 50% oil life remaining.

It gets a synthetic blend from the dealer. Which should I listen to?

Oil life monitor, or once a year. Whichever is first.

Syn blend I'd run 5000 miles or when the car gets to 25%, whichever happens first.

Check the intervals listed in your owners manual. At the very least once a year even if it’s less then the mileage listed for the interval.

I’m an old school guy.. once a year or 3-4000 miles at very least.

Man, maybe I'm crazy but I don't go over 3k miles. My monitor is usually around 25%.

I know FordPass app tells you oil life. I don’t use that POS. Is that what you are all talking about when you say monitor or is it in the car too? Either way I am every 8k but I have never looked at oil life.

When you next have your oil changed, check to make the monitor was reset. Else, reset it yourself.

Ford pass just parrots what the monitor in the car is saying, lol. But yeah, better to go by the monitor or straight mileage. Some dealers still use those 3000 mile change stickers to get you to spend more money, but it's literally a complete waste on these cars to change it that soon. 5000 miles if you're beating on it a lot, but 7500 is fine with a good synthetic. I wouldn't do 10K but it's supposedly what the actual interval is.

Actually, I believe the interval is somewhat variable, and I'm curious to know what the logic is behind it. I'll reset the interval at the start of a weekend, and sometime on Sunday, it gives me the warning that my oil life is just about done. While I'm sure it felt like it, I certainly didn't do 3000 miles in the hour or two of abuse I put it through.

10K is what Ford specs in the manual as the "official" interval, but you're right, the actual monitor uses all sorts of factors to determine when you should change it. Nobody knows what the monitor actually uses in its calculations though. My guess is that time spent above a threshold oil temperature (even though its estimated) is probably a big one if you're blowing through a whole monitor in one weekend. I've noticed my oil life seems to go down quicker in the summer as well.
