Poor and middle class always get the short end of the stick.

At least with EVs their children won't be deformed and have mental issues decades from now.

Had the refinery tanks flooded, the water table would be permanently polluted. In addition, wildlife would be impacted at astronomical levels.

There is simply no comparison.

Sure the goberment* sent in Seal Team 6.

*fair game since you already brought in politics... before you say I'm "baiting" you.
Hello; Have time to waste while waiting for a repair man. There is an old saw or feww about the poor always being around. Now that I think about I can see your off-hand dismissal as part of the green agenda. After all the "cost" of the green agenda is to be high in all areas. Only some will be able to make the purchases needed to live green. BEV's are expensive. The home charging units are expensive. The heat pump water heaters and more recently clothes dryers are likely to be more expensive than the old types replaced. I was with a friend when he bought one of the first "heat pump water r heaters". It was nearly double the cost of a standard type.
A big row was reported in the UK over plans to force homeowners to replace their heating with heat pumps. Cost was a big part of the issue.

Hello; Contrary to your false claim flooding storage tanks will not necessarily make them leak diesel. After all the tanks are sealed well enough to hold in the diesel fuel. Mere flooding would have water outside and diesel on the inside of the tanks.
Thing is the flooding happened in a different state: Florida.

Hello; He did not say the "goberment" sent in forces to burn diesel storage tanks. Speculation that some climate zealots might have done so in a twisted bit of false reasoning.

Hello; Coal, oil and natural gas have been in continuous use for hundreds of years. For a long part of the time with no pollution controls. Lately with pollution controls. We are well into the time for dire side effects. Thing is the "green" and EV" agenda will have it's own set of pollutants released upon humanity. We already know of several. Add to those known the extra tire particulates due to the extra weight of the batteries. I have called it replacing one sort of pollution for a different sort.
One more point. The false notion that EVs will stop the use of crude oil. Not so, too many essential products come from oil. It will continue to be refined for those products. What will have to happen is some way to use up the gasoline, diesel, kerosene, and volatile gases. If these byproducts of oil refinery can be converted into nontoxic materials, then all to the good. If not, they become a toxic waste dumped into the environment. In fact, gasoline was just that in the earlier days. Dumped as waste before a way was found to use it.

He brought in the seal team 6 due to some thinking the Deepwater Horizon Explosion was set by the military. What is provable is the Navy did not allow the oil company to cap the well. Thus allowing millions of barrels of oil to escape.

None of the dire predictions of death and despair occurred. Funny thing is mother nature, there is so much oil naturally leaking into the gulf that a bacteria evolved to eat it.

Everything you said in your post is true.

Hello; I forget who said this, but it rings true. One of the scariest things to hear is someone saying- I am from the government and am here to help.

Goodbye; Two words lay waist to your entire argument: Hurricane Katrina.

Oil has been detrimental to this planet and particularly humans. There will be decades of birth defects because of the oil Katrina spilled all over the coast. You two are like "it is natural". Ha ha ha.

Ever see a coal miner's lung? I'll post one if you want to see it. Coal kills humans at an amazing rate.

Oil is killing this planet!!!

No one wants to continue using this stuff at our current rate.

Not only killing our environment but enriching OPEC, which all four of you love.

10 Years after Being Hit by Hurricane Katrina, Seeing an Oiled Marsh at the Center of an Experiment in Oil Cleanup
At some point during the storm, one of the terminal's storage tanks was severely damaged on top, possibly after being hit by something extremely large carried by the storm waters. The tank released crude oil into an adjacent retention pond designed to catch leaking oil, which it did successfully. However, just a few short weeks later, Hurricane Rita hit the same part of the Gulf and the same oil terminal. Much of the spilled oil was still being contained on the retention pond’s surface, and this second hurricane washed the oil into a nearby marsh.

I was not talking about Deepwater Horizon. It was a disaster as well. There are so many of these no one can keep up!!!!!! One of you want to be the turtle?

10 Years of NOAA’s Work After the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill: A Timeline
NOAA was on the scene within hours of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill crisis, and we’re continuing to lead large-scale efforts to restore natural resources and communities in the Gulf of Mexico.

This is what oil does for ya:

Lets see here, the planet made the oil. You say oil is killing the Planet (I thought it was Co2?) So the Planet is killing itself.

All those pictures are bad things. The gulf is clean now I have been there.

You gloss over the child labor mining minerals for your precious battery. You also gloss over the environmental damage from mining in South America. Oil is the most eco friendly fuel we have in the quantities we need.

We have plenty of oil here, no need to feed OPEC. It is policy decisions to fund OPEC

Hello; My brother was a coal miner. I have had friends who worked in the mines. Some had black lung. I Was raised and live in what was big time coal production during boom years. I imagine you know more about it that I do.

There can be an ongoing posting of tragic examples about oil, coal and BEV's. There is no doubt that when things go wrong the aftermath can range from bad to horrible. Some one could counter your oil disaster images with images of two cargo ships burning. Again, my contention one form of pollution being exchanged for a different form.

I wonder what will happen when a hurricane or tornado tears thru a wind or solar farm? Those sorts of storms tear up "green" stuff same as any other.

When the tornado or whatever destroys windmills and the gearbox oil destroys thousands of acres of farm land they will say nothing, because it is green energy.

Hello; Sad but seems to be the case. The recent rants directed against us four imply we both favor oil and o not mind when some event such as an oil spill happens. I do not want oil spilled into any environment. I do not want oil to burn in a refinery storage tank farm. I understand that stored oil/diesel will eventually be burned in engines and byproducts will enter the air.
Thing is diesel burned in a tractor can help my food to grow or get delivered to my store. That is part of the reason I am not against ICE and coal power plants. I need food. I need heat in the winter. I could live without many of the modern convivences from having electricity in my home or a personal vehicle to move me around.

But I thought they couldn't make them fast enough.

Tesla discounts Model S by $30,000 and Model X by $41,000 to gain EV tax credits
If any business can't keep up with demand they sure as hell wouldn't discount them.

https://www.yahoo.com/autos/tesla-discounts-model-30-000-142300804.html
I really wish you’d read and comprehend the stuff you share BEFORE making yourself look silly.

“Tesla’s Model X is a bit player in the company’s lineup, with the cheaper Model 3 sedan and Model Y crossover making up 97% of first-half deliveries. The carmaker also dropped the starting price of the Model S sedan to $74,990, from $104,990 at the start of the year.

Tesla dropped prices of the Model S and X after unveiling a refreshed version of the Model 3 with a sleeker front end, more battery range and a new rear touch screen.”

In your own words, can you tell me why you’d pay full retail price for a vehicle that’s been superseded?

If Ford released a new Mustang, would you buy the old one for the same or similar price as the new one? Does Ford discounting the old model somehow mean that the demand for Mustangs has plummeted, or, does it simply reflect the fact that the demand for the old model will be diminished?

It's right there in the title. They have to discount them to get the tax credit. Means they cannot sell them without it.

Ford might discount last years models but never by 29%. The re-designed 2024 mustang is out. Dealers are still selling 2023's at or above invoice.

The dealer where I test drove a 2024 GT has 8 Mach E's and and three more in transit, the salesman said they cannot sell them. They have one lightning, said it has been there for 4 months.

you really are clueless.
Telsa can't sell them without a hand out from tax payers.
If ev's are so good, they should not NEED any help selling them.
Ice units sell in the millions every year withou needing any hand outs, many with price tags much higher.
It is an agenda driven farse.
Tax credits for ev's need to die.
Also as seen as everyone no matter if they own an ev or not is getting soaked paying the cost to upgrade the electrical grids and plants, it is only fair that any time a fuel station, depot and refinery needs to be upgraded, ev's owners share the cost, fair is fair. NO?

Ooooh…let’s see who the clueless one really is

Telsa can't sell them without a hand out from tax payers.
There was a time when Tesla sold cars before the tax breaks were introduced, so clearly they CAN sell cars without the tax breaks. Them NOW choosing to further discount superseded models is entirely up to them.

If ev's are so good, they should not NEED any help selling them.
Nobody is claiming that EV’s are “so good”. They are REQUIRED. If the fossil fuel industry could make carbon capture or any number of technologies work, we wouldn’t need them.
You seem slightly confused about the predicament.
Just to be clear, even the petrochemical companies accept that their product (post combustion) will eventually cause a crisis.

Don’t believe me? See the links and photos below.

In other words, if you’re still in any doubt about why this is needed, you are what we would call a “cooker“ here in Australa.
