Fact Check. Smoky American skies caused by
Canadian wildfires are not new. The historical
record shows Canadian wildfires have darkened

Canadian wildfires have generally been on the
decline with occasional spikes.
We’ll close out by returning to James Hansen’s June 1988 testimony.
As it turns out, June 2023 was 1.53°F cooler in the U.S. than June 1988.
It would be interesting to hear Dr. Hansen explain how June 2023 could possibly so much cooler
than June 1988 despite a doubling of industrial era atmospheric CO2. Though pinged for a response
via Twitter, so far not a peep from him.

Scientists just discovered a solution to one of the most dangerous problems with electric cars — here’s what they found (msn.com)
“While EV fires actually occur much less frequently than fires in gas-powered cars, according to Autoweek, when they do occur, they are much more dangerous. While gas burns out quickly, lithium-ion batteries are the opposite, burning incredibly hot for long durations and requiring tens of thousands of gallons of water to be extinguished.”
Hello; Not clear how this is known. EV’s are something like 5-6% of the fleet so far. Lets hope they are not directly comparing the fire numbers one on one with the 94 to 95% of ICE. To be a fair comparison some form of extrapolation should be used.
That the BEV fire are so very much more dangerous is the more concerning issue. Not a great analogy but perhaps an ICE fire can be a toy poodle bite while an EV fire can be likened to a pit bull bite.
““During Hurricane Ian, a lot of electric cars caught fire after they were soaked in floodwater,” Associate Professor Yang Yang, the project’s lead researcher, wrote in Nature Communications, where the study was published. “That is because the saltwater corrodes the battery and causes a short circuit, which ignites the flammable solvents and other components. Our battery uses saltwater as an electrolyte, eliminating the highly volatile solvents.””
“Another benefit to the new aqueous batteries is that they can charge much more quickly than traditional lithium-ion batteries.”
“… unlike many other materials used in the manufacturing of lithium-ion batteries, is a plentiful, renewable resource.”
Hello; These things sound good. I do not yet know enough about saltwater batteries to point out potential problems. Bet there will be some drawbacks as there never is a free lunch. Can anyone point out the downsides? Another “someday” solution. Hard to see all the infrastructure built up around Li-ion batteries being junked

Hello; Actually, using ignore on many, if not most, of the active members of a thread seems idiotic.
Sort of like closing your eyes in the face of something and pretending the thing has disappeared.
So far the BEV fire issues are being ignored or very weakly challenged by saying ICE also can catch fire.

Hello; I get there can be lots of reasons these BEV's are not selling. Among the reasons likely will be many are like a few of us on this thread. Just no interest at all in having a BEV. I get the champions can put us on ignore in this thread and pretend all well in BEV land.
Having inventory build up on dealer lots will be harder to put on ignore.
