Hi all,

wanted opinions on some poor glass sealing on my 2020 GT

first one of the rear passenger side glass, which looks to me like the mounting is coming away from the glass - is this normal?

second one is the bottom of the windscreen which looks again like the glass is coming away from the mounting. Along some of the windscreen there looks like there’s now mould growing underneath.

has anyone else had this issue? Is this something Ford would sort under warranty? Seems quite shoddy.
Thanks,
Ash

Hi Ash,

I think both issues are 'normal' (for a Mustang ... lol).

That seal in your fist picture, does it relax and sit back flush when the door is opened or the window is dropped ? I think the pressure of the window just pulls it away a little (maybe down to window / door alignment). I don't think that seal is actually bonded to the glass, it just kind of has a lip that tucks in behind it. Mine was displaced from the factory and didn't sit correctly - it was actually untucked in that area. I just tucked the edge back in with the help of a credit card and its been fine since.

The bottom of the screen just butts up to the wiper cowl so I guess if the car is left damp or with plant debris on it (i.e. kept outside or poorly stored) mould will form in that area. A frequent jet wash should keep the area clean. Check out window seals on an older car that's stored outside and not frequently jet washed - particularly near trees or other greenery.

My advice would be to keep an eye on the first issue and regularly jet wash the second :like:

I polished the glass today and when I did this area, I thought of this thread :like:

Two years old, it’s washed well (always snow foamed / pre washed with a jet wash) but I don’t particularly concentrate on that area :

I reckon if you incorporated a jet wash into your routine that area would clean itself up and stay reasonably clean moving forward :like:
