Getting ready to order my California Special, trying to get an idea which way I should go with gears for it. The Whipple & 10 rib kit finally got here. I am ordering the car with the auto, the car will have a 305/35/20 Mickey Thompson Drag Radial on it. Should I leave the stock 3.15 gears in it? or should I order the car with 3.55 gears?!?

It depends in what you want to do with it really. If your going drag race it some then 3.31 seems to be a good gear with your size tire, and will perform well on the street. I have the PP with 3.73 and love them and I'll be whippled soon. My car is strictly a street car and personally I like to be able to blaze the tires at will. The higher gears will help save the stock clutch as well, and I'm not fond of heavy clutches, ceramic chatter or twin disc light switch engagement.

95% on the street. Wish they would offer the 3.31 gear set, with the California Special it looks like 3.15 gear standard, and 3.55's optional.

With an auto I would go 3.55 since you don't have to row out of first so fast like with the 6M. Doesn't bother me with the 3.73 either and I'm 6M.

That's what I'm leaning towards, was hoping to hear some opinions on a some of the auto guys with with Whipple/Kenne Bell/Roush superchrgers...

With a Whipple and instant boost, go with the 3.15. You will have plenty of tire shredding power and less gear will help to keep it down.

For a boosted auto I would recommend the 3.15 stock gear.

That Mickey Thompson measures pretty tall though, think it's almost 29" O.D.

Longer gears are better with higher power and torque. :)

If it was a turbo car, I would agree 100% on the 3.15 gears. I just think that the 3.55 might be better suited for the positive displacement cars. Should be able to make this thing stick pretty good with all the BMR suspension parts here for the car.

3.55's will et better at the strip, 3.15's are king for roll racing.
