After numerous weeks of tedious and stress-inducing financial chicanery, it looks like I might actually be taking delivery of a GT in the near future.

I’ve watched every YouTube video (including the foreign language ones), got excited, and then there have been times when I’ve doubted the final outcome.

There’s a guy who lives near me with a Magnetic car behind which which I’ve occasionally fallen on the morning commute, and found myself drooling on my Cayman’s plastic and alcantara seats.

All good things come to those who wait.

Yes, I’ve been drinking.

Congrats - sure you will love it. A different beast from the Cayman. But then German cars rarely do anything for me so I would take the 'Stang every time !

Good for you - you will really enjoy the GT!

I got mine (a delivery miles 2017MY Fastback Auto) in the summer which replaced my 997 C2S. Whilst the Porsche is a great car, and my second 911 in a row, I enjoy the Mustang more. Not only are the running costs going to be less, it actually makes me smile more!

Also, as an added bonus, people smile at you in a Mustang rather than the usual hand gestures when driving a Porsche from far too many other road users!

Yes, the Cayman attracts plenty of the wrong kind of attention..!

I love my car, but a brilliant chassis is let down by a very disappointing engine. It sounds awful, and it only took 8 months for me to get over the excitement of a new Porsche and finally admit it wasn’t what I’d wanted it to be.

Well done Scylla, I'm sure you have made a good decision. You'll love the Mustang, even if it doesn't handle like the Porsche, it will definitely put a smile on your face every time you fire it up.
Post some pics when you get it.

THAT amused me! -

I had a Boxster for a little while - nice car ....but! - the hand gestures - the looks of disdain - the total belligerence .... :curse::angry:

Now -

with the Mustang, people actually let me out at junctions, they smile!, they wave!:like:

Totally different attitude!

(apart from the occasional BMW or Audi driver who always want to race you!) :giggle::giggle:

Which engine have you got? Is it the new 4 cylinder turbo? I always quite liked the sound of my C2S - it was a 3.8 Gen2 with Sports Exhaust.

I must say though that the v8 in the Mustang sounds great. I haven't changed anything from standard and in my humble opinion you get just the right mix of engine and exhaust noise. Love the v8 "rumble" - can't beat it for an engine sound!

Let us know what you get - are you getting a 2018MY with the active exhaust? Whilst I am sure the new model is a better car, I couldn't justify the extra £8K over mine... Not sure that I needed an extra 4 gears in the auto box either!

Try being a female driving a Boxster - I had someone try to kill me once by blocking an overtake, and I never get let out at junctions etc. In the Mustang people give me the thumbs up and actually strike up conversations at petrol stations!
