Hi all,

I see some companies offering to paint wheels at a pretty reasonable price. I'm familiar with powdercoating, but does painting last if properly prepped?

If so, I'm going to have to decide between black and dark gray.

Pic of car to reference.

Isn't your entire car painted vs powder coated? There's your answer.

I had a couple wider rear (used) wheels painted to match color of my fronts. Was told most all wheels are painted vs powder coated from the factory.

Good point.

Well, you didn't necessarily specify you were looking for help with picking which color, but there seemed to be an implication in there. 🙃

I don't think you can go wrong with either choice you're debating between; but, I think black would look great with what you've got going on already. So, black would be my vote.

Thanks. Yeah my buddy photoshopped black wheels. Attached.

That said, I'm also considering some different dark wheels altogether as well. Decisions decisions.

No matter what you choose, I think you have to paint/powder coat your brake calipers now that we've seen how awesome that looks!

Haha yeah he threw that in. I think I agree. I've been talking about doing it.

I painted a spare set of Mach 1 wheels black and they turned out nice, I wouldn’t discount doing it yourself.

Tires on for me.
I have someone that offers doing it for $179, which is why I was considering this. Then again, I have a powder coating company that will do everything for $425, which is pretty phenomenal pricing.

Realize that some wheel companies void their warranty if you powder coat their wheels. My guess is that the heat messes with the hardness of the wheel.

I don't believe I have any warranty left on these. Alternative I'm considering is a set of rtr tech 7s.
