FYI, Cody at Whipple told me 30-60 days until they have more info on a release. Was hoping to upgrade before the season starts

Ok. I’m confused...

I’ve been emailing with Whipple asking questions about Adaptive Cruise Control throttle mapping concerns (read here it won’t work) and whether they can say for certain if the bigger heat exchanger will actually fit with ACC. (Mixed reports here).

I also asked some questions regarding the Gen 4 Gen 5 and in development Gen 6.

Well, they said that the Gen 4 is not in production, there’s NONE out there and they are still in the testing phase of it and no timetable. He said there is no such thing as a Gen 6 yet. He did say that the Gen 5 is the best blower they have and may be released in 3 to 6 months for the 15-17s.

So not sure what to think... nothing definitive about the ACC throttle mapping but said the big HE will fit just fine. However, members with ACC have had real issues trying to get it to work.

Confused....

Who’s jumping on one of these now that there is a ship date? I just can’t decide between this or the Hellion TT...

Well rumor is that the Gen 5 is coming right behind it which seems like odd marketing timing. Everyone is waiting on the next thing.

Maybe I'll be upgrading even before I get the Gen 4 on the road:surprised:

But is the Gen 5 really much of an upgrade over the Gen 4?

Different look, different rotor design completely and “upside down”.

Really like to know how they actually compare on a 16!!

I’m curious if there’s any rotor difference. The only obvious thing I’ve read is that it’s supposed to be more efficient because the intercooler is on top giving it cooler IATs. Curious about the rotors though.

It’s a different rotor pack and profile 3/4 rotor design and lighter. More efficient at making power up top.

Well there ya go. Why upgrade to the Gen 4. I’ll go Gen 5 when it comes out. By then we’ll be talking about something else and then I’ll wait for that and never actually upgrade. Ah the upgrade struggles are real.

In lethal performances interview with Dustin, Gen 4 will be the last upgrade for 15-17. Gen4 is most likely a more efficient supercharger than the Gen5. It will not fit on 18+ cars, that's the only reason they don't get it.

18+ guys will get a Gen6 soon. I'm sure guys will want to put it in a 15-17, but again I think gen 4 is going to be the best you can get for 15-17. The generation numbers are only out of order to avoid confusion about which go on which cars.

Whipple is coming out with the Gen 5 kit for the 15-17s. Won’t be long coming I don’t believe.

So it would make sense that if the Gen 5 is made to fit, the Gen 6 if based on the 5 would fit too...

All I'm saying is Gen3= Gen5 and Gen4= Gen6(when it comes), get the appropriate one for your model year.

The changes made for the 18+, was to get it to fit, and sell to that market, not to make a better supercharger. Other wise it would have been simpler and more cost effective to just market the upside down styles to the older models as an upgrade. Anything said about the gen5 you should compare with other superchargers in the 18+ market, not the Gen 3 or 4, they won't fit on the 18+.

I’m not sure about what’s the Gen 6 for rotor pack but I have it from Dustin that the Gen 3 & 4 are the same 2.9L 3/5 rotor pack, but the Gen 4 has a new inlet port design for increased rotor filling and the rotors are slightly different profile, but still 3/5 meaning 3 lobes on the male rotor and 5 on the female. Gen 5 is a 3.0L rotor pack with 3/4 lobe combo.
