I have a 2018 Mustang GT. I am trying to decide between full bolt ons or a supercharger. I am interested in hearing from anyone that has done full bolt ons and would like to know what your thoughts are. Are you happy with it? What kind of power did you get? Was it a big difference over stock? I have been in a supercharged 2011 which was very fast and would like to know how an 18 with full bolt on would compare. Please let me know what you think of it. Look forward to hearing from all of you. Thanks

Whipple bolts on. It’s not even close. If you’re gonna spend the time and parts to get big power do that and be done or just do a tune and exhaust. That’s as far as I’d go on a NA build. Take the rest and put it towards a whipple blower or a turbo

There's about a 200 whp difference, so not very close.

Unless you're on a stage 1 Roush, w/ Roush tune...in which case that FBO '18 would likely out run it in most scenarios.

The key to modifying cars is to know where you want to eventually end up....be honest

Don't fool yourself and act like you will be happy with full bolt-ons and a E85 tune if you really want to build a 9 second car.

Think of all the wasted $$$ by not doing things in a specific order or right the first time and having to switch and sell off used parts.

At my age (42) I am now a wait and not nickle and dime things but put the cash together to throw a blower/Turbos on the car when ready. I'm interested in the power and time slips but like a nice full interior quiet car that doesn't stink from a cat delete that is reliable and long distance drive-able.

In years passed I have destroyed some very nice cars chasing time slips and I stopped that program a long time ago....If you want to go go drag racing find a used 2010 and go crazy so you don't get torched on re sale.

I think you should try full bolt on w/ e85 first. That gets you around 500whp which is plenty for the street imo.

The Roush on 93 and the vs the FBO on 93....I'll take the Roush :)
Now E85 then YES the FBO should be a bit better.....

As many have said, a full bolt on car won't come close to most of the off shelf blower cars.
It depends on your time frame and budget too.
you can nick and dime your way to bolt ons, but that whipple is 1 big hit all up front.
Most E85 bolt on cars will make ~500rwhp and run low 11s in street trim and can dip well into the 10s with the right setup.

You need to figure out your goals and budget and then go from there.

*2011 but yeah. The S197 is the platform to have for drag. Better off finding salvage and gutting it so you can throw a built engine in.

Hard to beat a blower for thrills, as long as you have grip to put it down (and then all the supporting mods so you don't break stuff).

I agree if you are going all out gutting, cutting and caging might as well buy a salvaged roller and go from there. Once you do that to a nice car it's ruined anyways.

Never ruin a nice street car to go fast and never use a credit card chasing timeslips...lol:D

If I did put a supercharger on it probably would be a Roush. I already have a roush axel back and just put an H pipe on it Saturday.

I agree. I’m not looking for a 9 second car to chase time slips with. I want to keep it as a Street car. I just would like a Street car that sounds great and will beat most Street cars that are in my area. From videos I have seen the supercharged cars only beat a FBO by a car length or less. If that is how close it would be it is not worth the extra money to me to put a supercharger on it. I am looking at putting Pypes headers on it with a roush cai and a Lund custom tune. I also think that if I decide to sell the car at some point that a fbo car would be easier to sell than a supercharged car would be.

From what I have seen I should be around 500 rwhp with fbo on 93. We do not have e85 where I live. Hopefully we do have it someday

I agree that 500 rwhp is plenty for a Street car.
