Not trying to hijack here, but does anyone have any data or acceleration comparisons between the different rear gear ratios for the s550?

I have never been able to find any concrete data for the S550 and gear swaps

Mine has 3.73’s and gets 25.5 mpg on long hi-way trips. Easily gets 23.5 with mixed driving. And when I want to hammer on it a bit it gets I don’t care mileage. At that point I am more interested in smiles to the miles and not mpg.
This.

Mine has a GT350 manifold and 47# injectors, and it burns E85 during the summer months. It's traction limited with 305 rears with the 3.73s, and is a hoot. And it still pulls down 25 on a road trip on gasoline.

Don't fear the gear.

How high do you rev before shifting on that setup? How high do you feel is safe?

7500+.

As for safe, that's anyone's guess. I think my limiter is set at 7800, I shift when the needle hits 7500 which is likely on the verge of hitting the limiter.

Would be tough to do without comparing the same car back to back at the track. You can plot out the wheel torque amounts pretty easily but that isn't the whole story. You have an extra shift to deal with plus possibly less traction.

4th with 3.15's tops out where 5th does with 3.73's for example

Not as big of a difference as in the old days when there were only 4-5 gears in the trans

Don’t sleep on nitrous. It’s cheaper than a sc or turbo and will net you huge power gains. I would say a 150 hp shot would be the max for longevity, although many people have sprayed 200 without issue. You’ll surpass that 500 hp goal. My FBO car jumped from 469 rwhp to 639 rwhp on a 250 shot.
Intresting I’ll keep that in mind. Thanks for the suggestion

I’m assuming this is on 91 or 93 right because I get about 13 mpg right now on E85 lol

What John said. Put 3.55s in the rear for a lot less money. Get your 435 horse engine up in the power band.

It's what I'd do if I was spending my own money. Or even 3.73s if you don't care about gas mileage.
Something I’ve had on my mind. Going to look into it for sure as I’d like to do it myself

Thats n

That's not good for the stock motor
I noticed a typo in my comment to the OP regarding nitrous. It said 250 shot, when it should have said 150 shot.

I’m not looking to start an argument, but I if you’re saying nitrous isn’t good for a stock motor, I disagree. IMO, it’s no more of a risk than a supercharger or turbo, provided you limit the shot to 150 hp.

I also recommend tuning for it on the correct fuel, running a good progressive controller and using as many safety features as possible.
