Go buy an automatic equipped Mustang instead. If you arent happy with the 6 speed, you wont be happy with the 5 speed either.

Really helpful. SMH. Left the FB S550 group because of comments like yours.

I enjoy a MT, only hate having to shift into 3rd gear to reach 60MPH.

What rear gear do you have now? Maybe change that instead.
His info say it's a PP, so 3.73 differential. Yeah, put some 3.31 in there ... I have them in my GT and think they are great for the street. Never need to use 6th except when on the highway 60 MPH or greater.

Guess I got use to my CBR1000RR Honda. 2nd gear I'm hitting 75MPH. I would like the gearing more evenly spaced though.

You can install it in your car but the shifter won't be far enough to the rear for the correct shifter location. If you go with a TKO, I would consider the TKO500 unless you have a lot of rear gear or quite a bit more power than stock. Also, these units are very notchy shifting. Personally, I think you're better off sorting out the MT82 issues and sticking with it.

That 5spd has closer ratios then the mt82. Which would make you feel like you were in a row boat. Plus your rear gear isn't right for the tko ratios. Maybe you should try 3.55 gears before a tranny swap. Way less cost involved.

I will be putting in a T56 Magnum. It is a 6sp but the gear ratios suit my SCed car much better. 5th and 6th are both overdrive with 4th being 1 to 1. First is taller than the MT82 gear and with the torque of the SCer I won't have to shift as much or at such low speeds. Another plus is the tail-shaft of the transmission has a sliding joint built in so you don't run into the issues of having the sliding joint between the universals which has proven to be troublesome. The transmission is substantially stronger than the MT82 with bigger input and output shafts and more teeth on the splines. The shifter is part of the transmission and completely isolated from the car body. You can choose to run the standard steel scatter shield from the T56 or there is an aluminum bell housing that will work and weighs less. I have change my clutch as it is slipping at 550rwhp so I'll do the transmission at the same time along with an aluminum driveshaft.
