changing and exhaust is easy.. getting it lined up is the hard bit.. but then not much

just take it steady on the stands, they need to be secure on a flat surface.... i know you all this but most accidents with jacking up come from these damned things and personally for me it's ramp or nothing. But then I have a ramp so I am lucky in that respect.
Yeah, can imagine I'm going to be messing with the tips for a while getting them perfect with how finicky I am...

Lucky git having ramps indeed, my garage is a levelled concrete surface and i'll be jacking it up in there, so should be fine :) :headbang:

Octane wise, I run whatever octane Momentum and Vpower are (I think 99 to us????), aint getting into the octane debate.

Tune wise, wasn't going to be taking the car 'to the edge' like a lot of the tunes in the states seem to do, I feel, tuning, is much like overclocking on computers (Something I think with your background you can relate to Gibbo), there's certain gains you can get, however minimal, by small tweaks, however to get the maximum out of it you're pushing your engine to the max.

I wouldn't ever be tuning my car and pushing it to the absolute limits, if I ever was to tune, it would only ever be purely for ease of daily driving increase in mpg and some subtle BHP benefits - rather than to get the absolute maximum out, a loss of engine isn't worth the risk.

*I have overclocked GPU's before and had them on their limits, causing a blowout, so risk factor would be to tune them below that (Same principle goes for my engine)

And as Graham said, I'd be tuning with Adamtune, rather than any random bob,d1ck or harry who seem to be popping up being able to tune. Because lets face it, even I could go into the ECU and dial the Pressure in the turbo up and be like 'Look 4024010 psi' 'Look my engine blew up' It's tuning economically, effectively and within the engines limits more than anything, with someone who is either incredibly well regarded (Adam) or protects warranty (Mountune)
*Also waiting on Mountune for their 'Warranty protected' tune.

Engines will blow up if you tune them too hard regardless of it being a V8 or I4. Doesn't matter, I've not trawled or looked into tuning that deeply just yet, because personally, it's not come to a time where I'm opting to invest money into the car, rather than other ventures, at that point i'll assess whether it's worth while doing or not. Still yet to see an ecoboost burst into flames, wiring loom or not ;)! Or the ecoboosts have a recall..... (Slowly whistles, twiddles keys, walks, then sprints off after the small victory )

Now, lets go back on topic away from the tuning topic, because, I'll cross that bridge, whenever I decide, if I decide I want to tune it. At the moment, I see no reason to, but in the future, I may.

I have two axle stands that hold 3 tonne each, and my friend has two that hold 1.5 tonne each, now, the plan is to jack up the right side of the car to do the exhaust rather than jack both sides up. We're having a look under the car sunday, or failing that, sometime next week, to plan how we're going to tackle the axle stands etc. Otherwise it's going to be a brick and planks of wood to make a make-shift ramp (Unless some garage wants to lend me their ramps for 30-40minutes), because, Watching the videos of the exhaust, as long as You can get under it, it looks like a piece of p1ss to do and looks very, dare I say it, modular (Mind you, I said that about DRLs and Sidelights lmfao)

Octane 93 is equal to RON 97.5, but some tuners do get a little carried away with spark advance, so sometimes on a turbo car it is best to ask for an Octane 91 tune and still put in RON 97-99 fuels to be safe. For a turbo car a custom live mapping session on the dyno can be best then followed by datalogging road test etc.

Tuning is so much more than just fuelling, boost levels, a good tune adjust everything cam tables, torque management tables, no risk are taken etc.

Just jack the car up on one side very high, insert two strongest axle stands on that side, ensure the ground and all contact points are dry. Then if possible place ramps, bricks, slabs concrete under wheels as no need to remove the wheels to fit exhaust. Also place the jack somewhere suitable still, but in short doing this means even if your axle stands and jack failed the car is still raised due to items placed under wheels.

Exhaust is a mega easy job on these cars if I remember right you just need 15mm and 18mm sockets and wrench, maybe a 13mm too. :)

Remember that axle stands are rated as a pair. 3 ton axle stands will only support 1.5 ton for each stand.

Which is more than enough as we'll put the stands on at the same time and the 'stang doesn't weight more than 3 tonnes ;)!
Gibbo205 yeah knew most of that, tune wise! However, neither here nor there at the moment, we'll reconvene this convo in a year or so when/if I opt to tune ;).
Thanks for the heads up on the exhaust though :)!
Guy@NemesisUK can't wait for this now :headbonk:

Manders, thanks for choosing Magnaflow! It sounds like your initial questions were already answered, but if you have any other questions/concerns before installing your new system, please let us know!

Thanks for making my smile again Manders.
Pop rivets and now not knowing what a gasket is, Blilliant!

If your mate has any mechanical knowledge (And it sounds like he has) he will know what to do when he see's it and realise no gaskets will be required.

Sounds like a good call on Pumabuild. Only issue with getting mates to do things is the awkwardness if the balls something up!

Quite the newbie when it comes to this stuff Steve :(. When I said I was mechanically retarded, I legitimately meant it, it's all new to me!!!

He's a mechanic, but he does older cars, however he understands the general premise of everything. To be honest, Exhaust looks like a piece of piss to do.

Reason he mentioned gaskets was older exhausts that came in pieces usually required them between U-clamps. However, judging by responses, here, the clamps magnaflow are actually using are far superior to most standard clamps and seem to do the job.

Yeah, we'll see what happens, it looks relatively easy to do, and a very modular style of change, not much to go wrong, no cutting etc.

@MagnaFlow you're welcome - Best sounding exhaust for the Ecoboost if you ask me!!! Now, can you get a 2.3 competition black cat-back over to @Guy@NemesisUK as soon as so I can get it on my car?!

Gaskets are for flanges buddy, not U clamps, U clamps create a seal when a smaller diameter pipe is placed inside a larger diameter pipe and in the case of exhausts, some form of exhaust paste to create a better seal

Yes yes I know (now), just bad at conveying it :p! I know they're where two parts 'match'. The magnaflow everything slips into the previous tube :)
Gaskets also came up as he didn't know where the exhaust was fitting, I wrote this after literally saying to him 'I'm getting a full exhaust, this is it' and his first response was 'Does it come with Gaskets' which got me panicking lmao and thus born the thread!

Learn something new everyday on this forum, then again you could say something inside of the engine and I wouldn't have a fooking clue.. Still know what a turbo is so could be a ford engineer on the V8 turbos twiggy has ;)
