Does anyone else experience a strong gas smell when first turning on their cars? I noticed it today. I don't know if this is normal or not. Car hadn't been used in 2 days. It was a really strong smell of gas for the first few minutes of the cold start then it went away.

I have noticed that mine does smell a bit rich, when I remote start the car and approach it from behind to load my things into the trunk after work. I'm a MOPAR guy, and this is my first Ford, let alone my first modular V8, and I just thought it was normal for these engines on a cold start.

Well this is my first v8 all together so we are in the same boat. It could be perfectly normal, just thought I'd get opinions

it's been snowing here where i live. my car has been sitting for a few days in my mom's garage while i drive her truck. i'll check it out today or tomorrow when i go get it.

also, when you fill it up with gas, do you top it off or stop when the pump stops? I never "top off" in any of my cars.

side note...miss driving the stang! so weird going from the 2015 stang to a 1995 ford ranger lol

Nope, never top it off. Just until the pump stops. And the car had about a half tank when I turned it on today.

I don't smell any gas and I would get annoyed quickly if I did.

whens the last time you stopped by the gas station? That's the only time I can smell gas, as the fumes can get sneak into the car during a fill up. Otherwise, if you can smell gas in the car, then you probably need to call dealership service center.

No gas smell, but if i idle it in my garage i'll smell exhaust (obviously).

Never top off - once the thing clicks, take it out.

It's not that I can smell the gas from the inside. I smelled it directly from the tail pipes and it was a cold start. I had to get something from the trunk and that's when I got the smell.

I didn't smell any gas tonight when I picked up my car. It had been sitting in a garage since Monday night.

Going to have to keep checking it. I took the car into the dealer yesterday to get warranty work done on the engine cooling fans and mentioned it to a tech and he stated it was normal. But if I keep smelling it, I'll take it in to get looked at for that as well
