This should be fun. I'm getting a fairly strong electrical burning smell on start up. Doesn't matter if it's hot or cold, does it every time and then goes away 5-10 seconds upon start up.

Anyone experiencing this? I have a feeling this is gonna be a doozy.

No.

Might be time for a dealer visit...before your car is ablaze on the side of the road!

Sounds like the starter or wiring to the starter is bad.

I wouldn't park that car in the garage or close to the house until a mechanic checks it

How long ago was the exhaust installed? New exhaust systems will emit a burning odor until they are fully broken in. If something were actually burning/melting, the odor would not dissipate within 10-15 seconds.

I believe it should be the air conditioner. Not sure which piece.

Do some diagnostic testing and start ruling stuff out. Radio off, AC and AC fan off. Start car and start sniffing. Start adding stuff into the mix until something triggers the smell.

My car was doing this in the Texas heat after work. Outside of the car don't smell anything, but inside it smells like a computer PSU just shit the bed.

Without having an inkling of an idea, dealer won't be much help and probably more of a major inconvenience.

To add: my smell went away, only because it's 60 degrees outside now vs 100+ under the hood
