Whilst this may well be true, the issue is that the population currently in California wasn't there in the past and the current infrastructure will struggle, or is struggling, to support them. The solution to that problem is not really for this thread on gas prices however!
Hello BlackandBlue; So back a few posts you asked the Gregs24 to explain.

Quote BlackandBlue " Please do help me to understand. Please explain it to me."

So far he has declined to do so leaving his decree stand that you lack understanding.

Hello; Now he feels entitled to decide what is relevant to the thread. Thing is many of the policy decisions from on high about fossil fuels which have led to these high prices use the heat and fires in the south west and indeed California as a basis. Long before "global warming' became the clarion cry it was known that the local climate of the area was prone to be dry.
In fact I was unable to sleep last night so wound up watching a PBS program about significant events in USA history. Things such as the interstate system and the Hoover dam. Among these ten or so things was what was done around the turn of the century (1900's). That being the moving of river waters hundreds of miles so cities such as LA did not dry out. Currently much of the Colorado river is being diverted by canals and high power pumps to lift it over mountain ranges.

So yes the history of California in terms of being an historical drought prone area is relevant. Relevant because the fires are touted on the various talking head and news programs as being a part of global warming.

Not sure Gregs24 will see this as he may have me on ignore, but figure BlackandBlue will.

Gas prices NOT dropping soon??
😂🤣 ☹☹☹

Average price in MA is 5 bucks a gallon as of today. Sickening.
Well it did drop some in March, but then shot up with a vengeance!

I understand what you are saying but I don’t really get that involved in being right or fake internet points. I come here to rib a little and enjoy good conversation. Greg can be Greg and while I am sure he is a nice guy that would good conversation to have a beer with (like most people on here) , I really don’t invest much thought or get much enjoyment out of being right or wrong.

Frankly I just don’tcare enough either way. This form is just a fun way for me to kill some time when I’m bored or sometimes (more than I would like to admit) procrastinate.
Hello; Fair take. I will not get involved as directly when it is your posts in a back and forth with him. As you may know or have guessed he has a history of treating several others, including myself, with disrespect. Name calling and other such putdowns. Not something I tolerate well.

Because he sometimes supports notions which can and have had detrimental outcomes for many others, I do think it is worth calling such out. Among the worst of such actions was his being in favor of those who had recovered naturally from a covid infection being forced to take a covid vaccine shot or lose a job.

No having a beer and letting it slide for me.

People will go back to March 2020 level of gas usage and avoid driving and stop flying again. Demand destruction. I’ve already started.

My motorcycle gets about 45mpg so that should take the load off my car
Nice. The two V8’s are permanently parked in the garage, and using the Honda Fit and the 2.4L Jeep. 38 and 30 mpg. I canceled two annual driving trips of 800 miles each and use Metra. At least we have good mass transit here.

I canceled a 1200 mile trip in favor of a 500 mile trip.

Hello; I know a few folks trying to keep on with their regular activities. I also know a few with fairly long commutes for work. I am not in trouble but just cannot stand to make foolish drives. Not to the point of not doing what is needed but have stopped low level drives.
I did drive to Knoxville TN about once a month to shop at stores not available locally. Now it has been nearly three months since i went to stop at Northern Tool, Mckays used books, DVD's, games and CD store, Tropical fish shops and such. I have freshwater tropical fish and plants in aquariums. My plants will overgrow the tanks and in the past i would take the excess to a fish shop in Kingsport TN about 70 miles away. Too far to drive to give away plants. Guess i will toss the extra.

I know a fellow who just retired. Last summer he bought a 30 foot camper. I allowed it to be parked on my property last July thinking it would only be a week or two. It took until this past March for him to get a campsite on Norris Lake at Powell Valley Marina and campground. Demand was still high last summer. A nice place but expensive. With a boat slip plus the spot for the camper he is paying around $500 a month. On top of that he drives around 30 miles to and from his house and has to buy gas at the dock at well over the normal price for fuel at a station. It is his dream retirement and he is not yet ready to back away. I hope he does not chase the dream and get in too deep. It is early yet and he has to either let it sit unused and still pay the rent or travel to use the boat and camper and have even more expense. Bad luck on the timing.

I had some offers out months ago on Mustangs in the 1995 to 1998 year range. Deals never worked as sellers caught the price inflation wave and considered my offers too low. I am backed off lately from shopping for a third car I do not need. That was part of my bucket list but the prices have been too high lately. I figure there could be demand destruction on old cars as well.

I feel bad for your friend who had such great plans. This situation we are in is really terrible. It’s not just gas, but the rapid inflation that has dug into everything. I bought an Toro electric mower a year ago and really like it. I paid $499. My neighbor is impressed with the job it does and how quiet it is so he went to buy one. It’s now $649. Crazy.
I’ll bet you can get the deal you want on those Mustangs now. Like you say, probably not the smartest move, however.

Hello; Disturbing. On top of this possibility, we may get to see long gas lines again. I am old enough to have gone thru the fuel shortages of the 1970's. Odd even fill up days. Five-gallon limits. No sale on Sunday. Maybe a new twist in the modern age.

I see a few vehicles stranded on the highway near my home. A thing with the modern FI vehicles is the electric fuel pump in the gas tank. With gas prices so high some may run near empty more often or even run out. The fuel in the tank cools the fuel pump. Low fuel or running out can overheat the pump and lead to failure.
