Garage Door Size????

I am in the process of buying a new garage door for my garage and was thi ing about the size.

I have never used my garage/shed as a garage an at the moment there are double 36'' doors in the front.

I was going to buy a 8' X 7' door. I was thinking 8 feet is loads of width the car. But after rethinking the situation, I am thinking a 9 feet wide door would be better. Our cars are about 82 inches wide including the mirrors. that gives 7 inches clearance on each side of the door. that isn't much.

What you all got for door sizes????

I currently live in an apartment but my last place was a rented house with a very old and decrepit separate garage. My 2014 fit in the garage ok, but the 2015 was terrifying to pull in. I'm guessing it had like 5 inches on either side, maximum. I don't know the sizes, but as with many things in life: GO AS BIG AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN!

Standard 16' wide door.

I went with a 9' door. My detached garage is only 16' wide and with a wider door than I went with, I think it would look "off". The 9' wide looks very proportional to the 16' width of the garage.
