This fuel light that comes on at a quarter of a tank or 50 miles I guess it can be useful... but I’m tired of hearing the chime anyway to get rid of it?

Once you accept it or push ok anyway to not have it pop up again?

I believe the standard is 50 miles, then 25 miles. Something tells me there is one more, but I'm not sure if it is 10 or 5 miles...

I think he was being sarcastic. Probably what he meant was if you keep the level above a quarter tank or so, you will not see or hear the low fuel warning.

I never let mine get close to 50 mi to E, which would be just under 1/8th of a tank (for me) or just under 2 gallons. For the modded or aggressively driven Coyotes, 50 mi to E is a little over 4 gallons left. No use risking overheating the fuel pump. The last time I heard the warning was a year ago in Texarkana, AR looking for top tier 93 octane while passing through to Ft Smith. Only found 91 octane at a dumpy Exxon.

A significant contributor to my compulsion to fill it up at half-a-tank or so is that I live on the fringe of a Southern California Firestorm area. We have had to evacuate our home because a wildfire was headed our way, and was close enough to make breathing difficult. Wouldn't want to run out of fuel early in our flight.

I stretch mine. Filled up with 87 last Sunday or Saturday night and did a good bit of driving so will def have to refuel tomorrow... $25-30 a week ain’t bad.

I think getting rid of the door chimes in FORScan also gets rid of the other chimes. That's one of the changes I plan to make tomorrow, when messing with FORScan on the Bullitt for the first time.

Too bad it's not adjustable, I'd rather have the first warning come on at something like 25 or 30 miles instead of 50.

87? Do you not add 91 or 93 octane?

That and you won't kill your fuel pump.
I always hear that. Every car I've driven I've taken down to fuel light or more. I've seen "1" on the miles to empty on my current stang. I've never had any fuel issues. My last 3 vehicles when traded had 130k (silverado) 45k (tundra) 65k (15 mustang gt) and currently at about 30k on an 18 gt.

In fact in the dozen or so vehicles I've owned the only fuel maintenance I've ever done is replacing a fuel filter on a 2000 Tahoe.

You're one of the lucky ones then. Anecdotal evidence doesn't override the fact that the fuel pump is designed to be cooled by the fuel in the tank.

Also, another couple of benefits to keeping more fuel in the tank:

1. Hard cornering can't starve the engine. The stock tank isn't baffled, so low fuel levels could potentially leave the pump pulling in air.

2. It's not much, but the extra weight over the rear helps with both traction and weight distribution.

At the end of the day, you do you. Run all-season tires, use 87 octane (letting it run to E), and refuse to drive the car in the rain. I wouldn't do any of these things, but it's your car, not mine.
Not sure why he doesn’t drive in the rain. My car is a daily. It sits in the rain sometimes. Using 87 If the owners manual says you can do it then you can do it w/o issue. I understand it may not illicit the best performance but this isn’t a race car it’s a mode of transportation to get me from point a to point b and provides the occasional burst of fun on a drive home or a weekend trip. I happily filled up today @ 1.73 for a grand total of just over $25. I can surly afford the extra 10 dollars for the premium fuel but why? We are experiencing cooler temps and my short trips of 5 miles around town makes premium a waste IMO.
