Front Sensors Fitted?

:lol: This is my exact dilema.... Although, I kinda scoped out where i daily park my car, and some places i'm scared i'll rear/front clip someone.

I think a three point (or more) turn in the narrow lanes of a packed car park will require sensors front and back in this car. Sometimes you can't only reverse out of a problem.

That'd be my fears, i'll just park is on one of the corners, or by the steps (means nothing to you guys) but they're the 'easy' to get out of spots in the car park.

Seriously parking is a non issue, you "do" get used to how long that hood is, and if you're really worried just do what i do and reverse in everywhere ... you've got a camera for that. Go spend £300+ on something more meaningful.

I wish I knew that before I got mine.

If they come on only when you are in reverse then that pretty much defeats the purpose....

The Camera only comes on during reverse, im not sure about the rear sensors, but assume they're 'always on' the front sensors appear to require a button to turn on/off.

In my experience (not Ford) the sensors, front and rear, come on when the car is put in reverse and will stay on til it reaches a certain speed, the ignition is turned off or until the button is pressed.

My dad's ford front sensors come on at <20mph, reverse when gear is engaged, or if something comes within a certain distance. That being said he has a '09 Smax :lol:.

If front sensors on the Mustang only come on when it's put in Reverse, what the fk is the point.

I guess you press the button to activate them manually. Aftermarket sensors are never going to be a seamless solution.

His are stock. It's all very odd. By the sounds of this thread i'm going off the idea of getting front sensors.

I meant the solution for Mustang. My fronts come on automatically but only when you put it in reverse, otherwise they'd be on when you were stopped at lights. Drive you mad it would...

Useful for looking after the front when you're reverse parking. I tend not to activate them when parking front-end in as its not really required with euro-box proportions.

Yeah this. My ford transit does the same. I can switch all sensors on when I want but unless I put it into reverse they don't come on at any other time.

Would be crazy for them to always be on.

The Ford front parking sensors might have some of this automatic on/off functionality as I think they also turn on when I have turned then off but then under certain circumstances when I use the gear selector they come on but I'm not sure exactly when.

It is also possible that they turn off over certain speeds which would prevent false alarms but as I wasn't expecting this functionality I haven't tested for it.

The manual/pamphlet is a few pages of IKEA style abstract diagrams intended for a worldwide audience without a single word of description but they are a generic product e.g. fitted Xvision Parking Distance Sensors so the function should be the same in other Ford's and not just Mustang.

I will investigate further on a warm dry weekend day (maybe a few months to wait).

They sound clunky going from this post, but better than nothing when trying to park in a tricky situation (especially when someone else is driving it :lol.

I had another deep dive under the dashboard today and I found the front parking sensor module and speaker unit which has been fitted into some space above the fuse box down by the accelerator pedal (RHD). There are quite a few wires involved and I can confirm that the front parking sensors (re)activate if you select Park (Auto). I still can't see where the wires go through into the engine compartment. Considering how much effort went into the installation I think the price was reasonable.

My dealer told me yesterday to hold off on these as never been done on a mustang locally, to go back in a few months and reverse everywhere for just now.
