Has anyone had Ford's post-delivery front parking sensors fitted? If so, had did it go: do they work okay? Do they use a separate on/off switch to the lower right of the steering wheel (as I was advised)? They do seem to be a rather clunky solution (at least until there are factor fitted ones). But better some protection than none.

First impressions welcome.

Would also like to hear this, as contemplating getting them, got a 'Voucher' from the parents for Christmas with a £300 'Mustang Mod' on it (basically they'll give me £300 to use on the Mustang), and was looking at putting the sensors on the car due to it's size.

There are pictures on : Europe Front parking sensors in Italy?
message #45
just search them on the forum.
You can hardly see them, painted in black on a black Mustang.
Anyway, if you order them ask your dealer to paint them in the body color of your car.
Good luck, kind regards

My dealer installed Xvision Parking Distance Sensors, front (fitted price) 1935219 £399.00 as per the new brochure.

A tiny black click once button with a red LED is glued to the aluminium style trim between the steering wheel and the drivers door.

The front sensors turn on with the ignition.

Press the button to switch the front parking sensors off to stop false alarms while driving.

Press the button to turn on the front parking sensors while parking.

The wire on the dashboard is routed between the gap in the trim down to the fuse box and it uses an add a fuse to piggy back on fuse 36 which is Auxiliary body module. Does anyone know what fuse 36 actually does?

There are 4 sensors located on the front bumper. I don't know if the bumper was removed for installation or if there was enough access from below. A wire is routed to the engine compartment fuse box with an add a fuse to piggy back fuse 44 which is Vehicle power 4. Another wire is routed through the bulkhead into the passenger cabin but I haven't been able to trace the route yet and I am waiting for a warm dry weekend in daylight to investigate.

With such a long bonnet [hood] on the Mustang it can be very difficult to judge close up parking distances and I can use the front parking sensors continuous tone to get within about a foot of another parked car and then I can judge another 6 inches before contact is made. The corner sensors are handy for getting in and out of spaces without side swiping.

The comer sensors do seem to pick up false alarms while driving close to parked cars and curbs so I do turn the front parking sensors off while driving. I will do some more investigation when I get the chance.

Perfect answer Actual - very helpful (for UK customers). I know that it might be hard to tell with black on black, but does the paint on the sensors exactly match the bumper? My car will be Guard, so might be an issue.

Thanks for linking these, anyone know if they'd work with a wrap over them? Dont' particularly want black (or colour matched - red) circles on my hood.

I doubt they would work.
Shame they can't connect them up to the rear sensors to come on when you out the car into reverse. Seems a bit lazy to me. Why can't they connect them to the rear sensors. Surely they can piggy back off them. Will drive you mad when your sat in traffic

The dealer fitted front parking sensors are a perfect match for my Shadow Black Mustang. I believe that the dealer used touch up paint and that this is the standard procedure.

The invoice showed
MECH 222.76
F1935219 KIT - PARKING DISTAN 95.00
F1897441 TOUCH-UP PAINT - AER 14.74
Sub Total 332.50
Vat 66.50
Total £399.00

This total matches up with the advertised price.

Lots of people on here are saying they will save cash and get independent front parking sensors fitted but even though it is a simple job it seems complex enough to leave to the Ford dealer where I will have some comeback in case of something affecting the car.

If they come on only when you are in reverse then that pretty much defeats the purpose....

The Camera only comes on during reverse, im not sure about the rear sensors, but assume they're 'always on' the front sensors appear to require a button to turn on/off.

Seriously parking is a non issue, you "do" get used to how long that hood is, and if you're really worried just do what i do and reverse in everywhere ... you've got a camera for that. Go spend £300+ on something more meaningful.

 This is my exact dilema.... Although, I kinda scoped out where i daily park my car, and some places i'm scared i'll rear/front clip someone.
