I thought that they were manual and needed to be switched on (and that the switches' inset red light always indicated activation).
Sorry I wasn't trying to contradict you...

My front parking sensors were dealer installed as per the 2016 Mustang Price List which shows dealer fitted Xvision Parking Distance Sensors, front (fitted price) 1935219 £399.00 (Page 8)

For me the front parking sensors always activate with ignition on and the red light on the switch illuminates.

Also some combination of Park/Drive/Reverse will activate the sensors.

The sensors also deactivate and the light turns off after a few minutes/miles.

If yours don't exhibit this behaviour then it might be worth checking if your installation uses both of the fuse taps one in the engine compartment and one on the passenger compartment and also the splice into the harness.

The install involved 2 fuse taps
Engine Compartment Fuse 44, 15 Amp micro, Vehicle Power 4
Passenger Compartment Fuse 36, 15 Amp, Auxiliary body module
There is also a splice into the wiring harness

I'll run a few experiments and get back to Ford if mine don't work like yours. Attached are caps from the xVision manual - which is also good for a laugh in terms of visual explanations without words

The xVision user manual is useless.

What would be really useful would be the installation manual which must have something specific to each Ford model.

The latest version of the x vision that ford supply is auto switch off after 5 - 7 mph so no need for the switch on the dash. But to be honest I did consider fitting them, now after a couple thou miles on the clock, I don't really need them. I manage fine without any issues.
