I haven't got my car yet but I have the Craig's bracket. I've thought of running it with that in the trunk...not sure how far the "Oops, I forgot to put it back on" line will go. Guess it would depend on the LEO.

*knocks on wood*

I have had zero problems having no front plate (IL, required fronts). Cops have passed me numerous times (and I've passed them). No problems.
Me too (OH, required as well). Noticed there's ton of cars around with no plates.

Granted poor guy at UC got stopped for lack of plate and then shot but I don't think this should lead to any conclusions...

I can't imagine being able to drive in SoCal for more than a few miles without getting pulled over for no front license plate. My car before - a Celica had dark tint all the way around it... Bought it like that from its previous owner (A COP!)... A week later I'd been pulled over and ticketed. We have more rules, fines and taxes than the rest of the country IMO.

I'm in California, It's illegal to drive with no front plate.

Since I bought it in Jan. I've received 2 no front plate tickets....

I've corrected both times, But I still drive with no front plate, I refuse to make a hole on my front bumper or use even put that ugly black plate holder that Ford gives you!

What about leaving the front plate behind the windshield? Is this somewhat of a compromise between not having it on the bumper, but still having it in the front of the vehicle? How do cops look at that?

Here's the thing, If you have it on your windshield, They won't stop you for no front plate.

If you don't have a plate at all, They won't stop you either.... They'll just give you a ticket for it if you're stopped for ANYTHING ELSE. Like an add-on.

First time it was because I got stopped for speeding, 2nd time I was parked in an expired meter (Didn't think I needed to put money on Sunday afternoon.... Was wrong.)

But I have never gotten stopped for just that.

RushGotti everything would have been so easier if all states required just the back plate, and made the front optional, or even better, just put the plate number and state on as a sticker of an appropriate size that would be placed in the right bottom corner of the windshield, and it's a win-win for everyone. In my state they have even stopped embossing the numbers recently, now they just paint them on and they look terrible.

It boggles my mind on how nazi some of you are on the whole front plate thing.

If its not required by law in your state, then fine.

If it is, and you don't run it, why draw unnecessary attention to yourself? Its just a license plate.

Jeez.

I don't understand your term "nazi". I haven't run a front plate. I understand the consequences. If I get away with it, good. If not well I will either pay the fine or put it on and try to get out of the fine.
It's just like speeding, it's illegal but we try what we want to get away with.

Really?

If the car came with the License plate already installed (Which some dealerships do) then fine, I'll leave it on...

But why would I drill holes in my perfectly good front bumper cover, When there aren't any currently there?

Hell, I even purchased a motorized license plate holder that goes under the car and pops right up from AM, But I am just going to sell it instead of installing it.

Screw. Front. Plates. :)!
