For those of you that have to have front license plates, this might be a good alternative. No drilling involved.

In my state all that does is give cops a clear indication that you are not running a front plate. Dash does not equal compliance in VA and basically says LOOK AT ME NOT BEING LEGAL

No front tag is a secondary offense which does help but not if you are pulled for a traffic violation.

Not sure how other states treat it 🤷🏻‍♂️

Edit:
Wait... are you in Va??

I made this setup for my 2015. Came out nice and no drilling required.

I’m in Las Vegas. Here it is mandatory I believe but they don’t enforce it.

Typically the front plate has to be mounted to the most forward part of the car i.e. bumper. I use a Craig's Custom mount, it has survived 4 New England winters so far...

Someone posted this a few years ago on here, never looked into it, but have heard it more then once.

"Nevada law requires most vehicles to display front and rear license plates at all times, except motorcycles and trailers, which require only a rear plate. You must display both plates if the vehicle is designed for a front plate or if the manufacturer offers an add-on bracket or frame.

Front plates are optional only if 1) the vehicle was not designed for a front plate and 2) the manufacturer did not provide an add-on bracket or other means of displaying the front plate. (
NRS 482.275)"

Notice how dealers don't install the mount and leave it in the trunk? Now you technically don't have a mount.

I have never ran a front plate on any of my vehicles in 36 years of driving in Nevada and I have only been pulled over once back in the mid 1990's. Plates in Nevada used to be mandatory back in the 1990's, not sure when the law was changed to what is listed above. I was pulled over for no front license plate in rural Nevada near Tonopah. Officer gave me a fix it ticket. A week or so later, I went to the University Police Station at the University of Nevada Las Vegas (was attending college at the time), pulled into the parking lot, grabbed my front plate, attached it with zip ties (I had an aftermarket front bumper with no license plate provision, didn't even cut the tails off the zip ties!) and went inside to see if they had an officer available to sign my fix it ticket. They said sure, someone will be right out. Officer came out, looked at the ticket and said the guy who wrote this must have been really bored! (It was a highway patrol trooper who didn't have a radar gun on his dash, so he probably was pretty bored!) Then he looked at my plate and said sarcastically, yeah, like you are going to leave that on there after I sign this, then signed off on the ticket. As he walked back in the building, I pulled out the cutter and cut the zip ties and threw the plate back in my truck.

Right? Going through Emporia or West Point like that would have the state trooper going over your car with a fine tooth comb looking for anything.

Incorrectly mounted plate? Ticket.
Tint darker than 50%? Ticket.
Hanging anything from the rear view mirror? Ticket.

The list goes on in Virginia.

Preach. I go around emporia religiously.

Is that a Mustang convertible pulling a trailer?
In my manual for the 2016 MY Ford discloses the Mustang is rated to tow 1,000 lbs. You just have to mount your own hitch. It’s what you do for Hot Rod Drag Week or Sick Week too. Gotta carry your own tools and parts.

I'm in VA.

It's a $90 ticket. I found a kit on Amazon that was no drill for my 2016 and I used metal tiewraps on my 2007 (no drill).
