I am hoping someone can help with a question I have with the front fender well liner rivets.

I am interested in the three plastic rivets at the bottom, outer, rear edge - the ones in the area that takes the majority of rock chip impacts (the rivets that are used for mounting rock guards etc).

I think each side has 1 x 6mm rivet and 2 x 8mm rivets. Is this correct ?

I assume the rivets mount into steel behind the fender well liner. Is this correct ?

Are the holes that the rivets mount into behind the fender well liner round ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated :like:

Thanks and best regards,

The holes are round from what I recall when installing front mud guards on both my prior 2016 and current 2018.

The plastic rivets can be easily released using a small flat head screw driver. Pry the center locking pin upward; once that is unlocked pull the entire rivet from the liner. They pop right off easily after being unlocked.

Replacements can be found in bulk on eBay.

Great info, thanks for the confirmation :like:

I have some of both sizes in my amazon basket but just wanted to check what's behind the liner (I don't have the car yet).

My dealer had one of the types in stock, but the pin part had rectangular profile - hence my question about the round hole.

I need a rivet type that I can put a self tapping screw down the middle and I think the types I have found and your confirmation of the round hole will work perfectly :like:

Cheers,

Just for completeness, photo confirms all three holes are round :

I randomly found the photo on a post that BMR had done about jacking rails !
