Update (and vent) #3:

I was lucky to find someone at the collision center today. Managed to get some closer shots... got to see the other side of the car.

Makes me sick seeing her in this condition. Outside, covered in dust, getting pieced together. My only real issue is seeing the front quarter window removed with the interior being exposed to the elements. The car being covered in dust isn't a good sign, wonder how long it's been left open for. And apparently the entire interior driver's side panel had to be removed? I'm sure that's going to add more squeaks and rattles on top of the million I got from the factory.

This sucks. I fucking hate this loaner too. I just want my car fixed. I want to know how I can get the most for diminished value because I'm expecting something for this bullshit that's not my fault.

Do you think that "need core" mean that they're going to replace the radiator?

Sean - that would be my guess as well on the core part.

I would be raising holy hell with them about having that part open on the drivers side window. That would piss me off.

Hope you get your car back soon. I know that sucks :(

Amazing how well the hood creases line up with the bumper when the gap is almost zero.

Needs a little work on the Passenger side up near the door and fender to get straight there.

That really sucks and I hate FL drivers more than anywhere I've ever lived. I've had more dings and dents on my old cars, not even in the car but parked, in living in FL for 7 years than accidents total in 18 years of driving. People here simply do not care about anyone else's property- and notice that it is always rentals or crappy older cars doing the damage to others mostly. Just rude inconsiderate people around here.

I've been down here 10 months. I moved from Chicago to be close to family, but honestly can't f****** wait to leave. Now that I got a new position with Bank of America, I may try to transfer out in a year once I get established and maybe (hopefully) get promoted. They have another site in Chandler Arizona that they're opening up.

I miss Midwestern politeness and courtesy. My mother and aunt owned a salon in Chicago for 25 years. She's semi-retired but still works a few days at a salon down here in Tampa. She could count on one hand the number of rude people she had up north in the Chicago burbs in two decades of owning a business. Here she gets at least several people a week who are total a-holes.

And the people drive like absolute animals. It's absolutely horrific once tourist season begins and all the rental cars and snowbird Buicks clog the roads.

I went and bought a new Focus today, and some idiot almost T-boned me on the freaking test drive trying to turn through traffic to get into a Walgreens.

I had to get my GT fixed last month because somebody smashed up the front bumper while the car was parked at LA Fitness. Wal-Mart parking lots here are the biggest horror shows with speeding cars and runaway carts all over the place.

Outside of the beach, I've begun to hate this place with a passion.

Even though this may not be realistic, but you probably have thought about it as well - how much would it cost to get out of this car and into another new one?

If it was me, of course I would wait to see how things pan out first. Maybe they fix it so you truly cannot see, hear, or know about the accident in any way. If so, then all is good going forward. But, if anything is off and it's not in new condition after the fixes, I would look into replacement. Definitely sucks, and like you said, it's not your fault at all, but if it was mine and it was not restored immaculately to new condition, I would consider replacement. Within reason of course. I can't come up with a number now because it isn't me, but perhaps if I could replace it for less than $5000, I would do it... :(

Edit: I had my 2005 GT for over 7 years as a daily driver, without so much as a parking ding anywhere. I lovingly detailed that car all the time, and was as attached to it as much as you can be attached to an inanimate thing. And then I backed into a dumpster in a dark parking lot in the wake of Hurricane Sandy in 2012... I nicked the body right next to the tail light - a spot about the size of a quarter. Wasn't much compared to yours, but I got this sinking feeling when it happened that I'll never forget. The car was fixed of course, and most folks can't tell, but I can spot a slight difference in the paint matching every time I look at it. And I never felt quite the same about the car ever since. It was no longer mint condition. According to Kelley Blue Book, it was no longer considered "excellent" condition, because there was minor bodywork done.

And that's why I don't know if I could live with a new car for years afterward, if something happened in the first few months of ownership.

Our Mustang sympathetic love is feeling your pain right now, my friend. I'm terribly sorry about your sexy ride getting hurt in the front. Coming from an accident two weeks ago (IN FLORIDA) and totaling my Kia Soul (which gave me the opportunity to buy my '15 Mustang I wanted all along), I can say getting a dash cam is one of the biggest things I look forward to here soon just in case something like this happens. It's a big pain in the ass and takes up a lot of time.

Thanks Todd, they keep sending me automated text updates saying it'll be ready by the 27th. I called my guy and asked if they were just automatic estimations and told him I'll be surprised if they pull that off. Ended the conversation saying I'd rather them take as long as they need for it to be immaculate. I'm going to bring up the quarter window next week. We've been on good terms but this was surprising to say the least.

It's just hanging on the drivers side... the front end looks so off without a chin splitter.

To be honest, I just don't care at this point about keeping it mint. From the QC headaches to this, I just want to drive the damn thing and pretend like this never happened. I'm just apathetic about the whole situation. As far as getting a replacement, I think it's too much of an additional stress to bother with. I will be pursuing some kind of diminished value and am expecting a reasonable check from the guy's insurance company. Whatever I get will go straight to the mod budget I planned on using anyway. Hoping it'll pay for something, like coilovers or some bolt-ons.

Thank you for the condolences. Thankfully the insurance side was taken care of rather early into it when his company accepted full responsibility. I just want to be compensated beyond my loaner and the repairs, so if I can get a check in the mail it'll ease the frustration somewhat.

How did the repair turn out?
