Front End Clearance for Trailering

Want to trailer my 350 home when I get it, but have heard the front end sits pretty low, and is hard to get onto a trailer. Does anyone have information on this?

I'm curious as well. Was most likely going to have to go with the Uhaul rental. Was going to bring extra pieces of wood to help elongate the ramp up, but curious to hear from any other members that had to trailer them as well.

Suggestions for proper trailering are often unique to the trailer your using. I trailered mine home. Here's an example shot of the wheel straps/anchors I used at each wheel. Attaching tie downs from the front under the vehicle will be an issue due to the low clearance. My trailer has a drop door and a long flip out and I still needed to jack the front of the trailer up to get the front spoiler to clear. Load slowly. IMO, I don't think a rented open trailer will have long enough ramps for you to clear the spoiler when loading.

Extra long wood (i.e. 1x4x8) will help. I now use one cut into 2 equal 1x4x4 pieces to place underneath and load mine up onto this pair of 10' long aluminum ramps.

What I really like is something like this... but she starts at $12,000 and change.

I tried the Uhaul route and couldn't get it to work. I cut ramp extenders from 2x6 and was able to get it onto the ramp, but the front bumper was going to sit too low to the front of the trailer. I had 2x6 cut to 24" to fit within the dip on the trailer. The Uhaul I had rented to pull the trailer was also a complete POS and would barely get above 60mph unloaded so it was probably for the best. I dumped the entire idea and drove it back. Uhaul said it would fit, but I could not get it work.

I guess you could back it onto the trailer, but I wasn't sure how that was going to effect vehicle load distribution moving it away from the front especially with an unloaded truck. I didn't want to mess with it any longer.

Bobne: Tell the dealer not to mount the spoiler; you can do it once you get home. The clearance problems you'll have include the front fangs and the mounting tabs at the bottom of the front bumper cover for the spoiler. $12K? Holy cow. You can get a pretty decent enclosed trailer for that.

This is exactly what I use and I jack the front of the trailer up too. I'll get pics this weekend to share.

Yep, it's definitely low. Ford recommends a maximum ramp angle of 7.7 degrees. I was able to load it with about 9.5 degrees, but it's tight.

You can see the ramp extensions I had to make. My trailer height at the bottom of the dovetail is about 13". I had to extend my 5' ramps to about 7' long to clear.

I also uploaded pictures of my tie-down locations using T-hooks.

Here's the ramps I used. I use the 6' long steel trailer ramps and the 74" race ramps. The race ramps are SWEET. super lights and they can be used on any surface. It's crazy they are made of foam and coated in a bed liner spray type coating. They literally weigh about 5 pounds each and can support 1500 pounds each. I have over 2" of front end clearance when loading and unloading.
