Here is a repair I completed a few weeks ago.

The front bumper was damaged when it caught on a high curb in a parking lot stall. The passenger bumper tab broke off.

I found an industrial automotive bumper adhesive from 3M called "Super Fast Plastic Repair". This stuff worked very well. However, it is expensive and really should be used with an epoxy gun which I was too stingy to purchase. It lives up to the name "super fast"... I barley had time to form it and wished I just bough the gun. However I was able to make it work well enough.

Here are some photos of the process and results.

Excellent work and thanks for the write up. I know from when i last removed my front bumper the tab snapped in one place. Great to have a guide on a diy fix!

Wow!

Well done!

Very impressed! How long did the plastic take to set up? I’ve used the JB Weld plastic stuff in the past with good results. Not that Good though!!!your attention to detail made the difference.

Thanks for the positive feedback!

The plastic repair was tricky. It sets ridiculously fast, in just 20 seconds. When I tried to depress the plungers without a gun one side ended up sticking. It was hard to see what was happening and the other side ended up backing out the wrong end and spilling. I had to abandon my plan and just dump it all into a bowl, mix it, and then scoop it onto the bumper.

I used a cut open ziplock bag to form it and keep the fresh adhesive from going where I didn’t want it.

I was able to grind and shape it less than an hour after applying it to the bumper.
