I'm a proud satisfied owner of a 2016 GT, I did a few upgrades to it to adjust the crappy handling from. Factory and give a couple more Hp and better sound (PP2, suspensions wheels, exhaust).

I am now tempted to upgrade to a GT350, the R is out of budget, I see you can find a 1yr old for around 55k or a new one for 60k.

Now my question is, anybody here did the same upgrade? Is it worth losing the obvious money when trading in the GT for a GT350 (considering that I also put money in my stang) ?

I do not track, so the enjoyment is just driving it around town, I heard miss fillings about the shelby because of the engine that likes to rev higher (I love high revving engines) is not ideal in common driving.

I was also considering a Vette, but there is something in the Shelby that makes it feel more special.

Any thoughts are very appreciated.

I went from a modded '14 track pack to a '19 350.... after 800 ish miles i will change nothing but brake pads and tires on this car most likely... it's out of the box amazing to drive IMO. the high revs are hard to use legally.... but it's plenty fun still.... 1st track day is 5/10/19, so my comments are strictly street use so far.

exhaust, seats, steering wheel, magneride, etc etc... all good stuff and def not a car you see on the street very often.

Can't comment on the GT -> GT350 upgrade, but I do use mine only on the streets. It's docile when you want it to be, screaming bat out of hell when you want it to be. It feels more special than the Vette because the engine is hand-built, one of a kind. You won't find the motor anywhere else, but Chevrolet will whore out that V8 to anything it can. Whore is a strong word, but IMO it's fitting. Absolutely makes sense from a business stand point but it's also why it doesn't feel special at all.

GT350 will be more special than the Vette, that's for sure. I have yet to see another GT350 on the street in my area, I see at least 2 Corvette Stingrays per day.

And it will be more special to drive too..... You won't regret it.

if you have a 3.73 rear end in your 16, i think you'll feel underwhelmed at first. that's the jump i made. it was fun to drive, but i got a dud.

the current car is a ZL1... it's easy to forget about hand built anything when you have all that extra torque and power. unsure if you're considering a grand sport or Z06, never driven a grand sport, but the Z is a freaking rocket.

I drove a 2016 GT350 two years ago. Currently with my 18 GT with GT350 wheels and sway bars, there's not much difference in how it feels in daily use compared to the GT350, even on some local roads where you can push it a little. IMO the GT350 had two advantages: I'd rather have it if I went to the track, where it's advantages over the GT are more easy to feel, and it's more unique and better looking. Kind of like why Boss 302's still have crazy resale values - because you don't see them every day, and when you do, you know immediately that it's not a GT. If I had $60K I'd definitely get the GT350, but I have less than $40K invested in the GT and am not one bit unhappy.

Just sold my '18 GT (private sale) and turned around and bought a '19 GT350. I certainly can tell the difference, so I personally think it was worth it.

I made my own little version of what I liked about the R. Instagram @xNoXiDe

I love the car. I deleted the resonators and wow I even love it more. I take it up the ramps to hit the 8K rev limit legally and get sad when entering the lane as it's time to back off. :(

Sell the GT privately and get into a GT350. So worth the extra money and......you only live once.

I traded in my (6 month old) GT Premium w/1250 mi. (and lost 7,000.00) on a New GT350.
Any Regrets?, NONE

I went from a small modded 2014 Mustang GT Premium Track Pack. I had a modest HP bump and adjustable suspension installed by the dealer from day one from Ford Racing parts bin. When I went to the GT350, I never regretted one second for the trade up. Your 16 has the IRS when mine was Lincoln Log diff. So I cannot comment on that. But you will not be sorry for trading up.

As for the vette, I would skip that.

I traded a 2017 GT in for the 2016 GT350. So I even went back a year. (Interesting note, my insurance went down 6 dollars)

They drive completely different and anyone that says their GT is the same as the GT350 has not driven both for very long or anywhere with a left and right turn.

I had to adjust my driving slightly as with the GT350 I tend to shift at a higher RPM to really get the most out of it. There is not normally a long enough stretch of road to really open it up, so unless you have unlimited abandoned roadways, expect to not use the full potential on the street very often.

The car sounds absolutely amazing and I have people rubber necking often to see what it is making that incredible sound. The GT350 puts a smile on my face driving to work every day, more than my GT did. People will give me thumbs up and lean out to take pictures in the GT350.

I recently had my Roof blacked out in vinyl. The person who did the wrap for me also wraps the sides of the local PD here. They brought a car over to get wrapped and immediately were checking the GT350 out. Soon after a couple other cars showed up and they were taking pictures with the GT350. That kind of stuff would not happen with my GT. You get a very unique experience with a GT350. I have only seen two other cars on the road since I have owned my GT350 and I live in a populated city.

EDIT: I like to add my local Ford Dealer is awesome here too. I took the car in for an oil change and I get premium service like I never got in my GT. They walked me into bay to show me the service and introduced me to the senior tech doing my oil change and assured me he was experienced in working on GT350's. Nothing like that ever occurred with my GT.

Two thoughts I forgot to add to the first post: The GT with PP1 handled nothing like the GT350 until I installed the GT350 wheels and sway bars. Also, below 4000 rpm, both cars need more punch and feel almost identical. Above 4K the GT350 is noticeably quicker.

Looks like you're from San Diego where there are many great drives within 2 hours so I think the GT350 would entertain. If you lived in an area devoid of great driving roads then I'd say don't bother.
Side benefit to the GT350 is the magnetic suspension and the ride is so well controlled.
Never owned a GT but I do have a Challenger Scat Pack (big hemi with tons of torque). For daily driving the torque is a lot of fun but if the roads get twisty and there are elevation changes then it'll give you a chance to wind up the GT350's Voodoo.

I switched from a 07 GT/CS (so basically a GT) with limited mods. The smiles i get from daily driving (only 1 or 2 days a week) can not be quantified. Even if in a foul mood, once i push the start button, all cares go away. :sunglasses::rockon::crackup::cwl:
