FR Track Handling Pack Install

Hey guys, I am about to buy the FR track handling pack and install it on my GT next month or so. Disclaimer, this is the first time I will install suspension on my own.

I thought I read somewhere that the bolts have to be torqued to spec when the suspension is loaded. Does that mean I have to torque the bolts when the car is on the ground or a drive on lift? If so, how am I supposed to reach the bolts with tires on the car.

Any advice from people who have installed their own suspension is welcome.

I torqued them down while it was up in the air

If the car seem lopsided then loosen up the rear bolts while on a alignment machine since you'll need the weight of the car on the suspension to level it off.

You can reach the bolts for the lower control arm to level the car but everything else needs to be torqued down

Torque everything down...except the lower, rear (and possibly front) control arms. Then on the ramp, torque those.

Perhaps I did it wrong, I didn't torque the front control arms...

I installed the FRPP track pack yesterday, I used the method shown in the following video from CJ Pony Parts:



They recommend lowering the cradle instead of disconnecting the entire lower control arm. It was a little tough to lower the cradle far enough to exchange the springs, I ended up having to back out the bolts on the other side of the cradle as well. I didn't clock any of the bushings after the install, and the car sits low and level. I installed the BMR CB005 at the same time, so lowering the cradle made sense for me.

Overall the FRPP track pack install was easy, the most difficult part was aligning the cradle for the BMR CB005. I would say the install for the track pack could be done in 4-5 hours with the right prep.

I just wanted to add another question here, without making another thread.

Is the rear toe link and bearing that is included in the pack the same as what comes on a base gt?

Some members have said it was different, and others have said it is the exact same rear toe link. I would like to get a definitive answer so other future members can have this as a reference.

yes the toe link is the same in all gt models. no need to install it.

True, but you can use the bearing in your now-extra toe link, press it out, and put it where the link connects to the spindle, replacing the stock bushing.

haven't drove the car. I am in the middle of installing Ground control with koni yellow and new hubs with arp studs. Lets see how these work.

Make sure to replace the splined bolts. I didn't the first time and ended up having to do it later on.
