F1 must be falling on hard times if they have to hand out trophies made of Legos.

Great result for the HULK! Super harsh for Oscar there. Was a little dangerous for sure but 10 seconds seems tough. Expect the ‘British Biased Stewards’ comments all over the net as it effectively gave Lando the win. But still happy for Lando. Crazy race with the typical British weather at summertime! I should know! I’ve been soaked at Silverstone in July too.
Max Verstappen highlights ‘strange’ George Russell inconsistency in stewards’ Oscar Piastri verdict
Hello; The inconsistency is, of course, that Piastri got a penality for a brake check behind a safety car and Russell did not recently for the same thing. Of course, the stewards have been consistently inconsistent for a long time. Many have posted about such.
Just watched analysis about this, apparently Oscar did almost the same a few laps earlier which Max complained about too. When comparing to Russell (which I also should have resulted in a penalty) his speed went from 140 to 80kph whereas Oscar went from 180 to 50 with significantly higher brake pressure in the wet with limited visibility.

There was a significant difference in braking force between what George (0.30) did and Oscar (0.69) did. But what caused the penalty for Oscar was the pure dumb luck of the pace car timing. In the fraction of a second that it took Oscar to touch his brake pedal the pace car lights went off. The penalty is the penalty but it just shows what a few milliseconds can do to the outcome of a race.

I'm sure it did not help that Max spun out soon after that....

Hello; The brake check spawned some comments from the SKY talking heads. Something to the tune of the brake check was intended to make max react and somehow such would cause his tires to cool down. I was puzzled about this as it all happened so quickly that I do not quire see how such would affect the tires more. Is this more of the talkers filling up air space or is their something to it?
Max did spin out soon after.

It’s funny to me they hid behind the braking force but never mentioned if Russell down shifted at the same time he hit the brakes, effectively the same action. The inconsistency is just a joke, and it’s year after year. Such a bad look for F1, and we all see it.

Horner has been let go by RB.

"Christian Horner has been sacked by Red Bull after 20 years as team principal.

'is this to protect Max from leaving Red Bull or is this because he's left Red Bull already and this is the result of that?'

The 51-year-old has been in charge of the Formula 1 team since its inception in 2005, leading them to eight drivers' championship and six constructors' championship titles.

...

"Red Bull has released Christian Horner from his operational duties with effect from today," the company said in a statement on Wednesday.

The Englishman will be replaced as team principal and chief executive of Red Bull Racing by Laurent Mekies, who has been promoted from second team Racing Bulls.

The 48-year-old Frenchman had been in the role since the start of the 2024 season and was previously racing director for Ferrari.

Englishman Alan Permane, 58, has been promoted to team principal of Racing Bulls from his position as racing director."

IDK if Horner being booted is going to make it worse or improve things. Disruptive. Still processing.

I would like to see Marko out to. I've never seen him as a positive influence.

If both were gone, the team could develop a vision for the way ahead. Whether MV would stay for that...🤷‍♀️🤷‍♂️

- Newey gone
- Horner gone
- 2026 looming
- 2025 car unstable

Writing that, it seems RB is going to be trending lower still while things are getting sorted. MB might be looking better to MV with every passing moment. If that door is open.

I like MB's current setup, the team as a whole and the drivers. If MV moved there, how would it impact them? 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♂️. MB has invested in Russell and have brought forward Antonelli. IDK. It's not something I'd want to mess with. Which is probably why I've never been considered for a Team Principle position. :giggle:

If we believe there was really an issue with Horner there could be an improvement. Personally I don’t believe that. The downward spiral will continue.

100% I can’t stand him.

Oh, I’m sure it is. I like George but getting a four time champion in Max is a no brainer.

My question can MB build a car that Max can drive? We have found out with Lewis that it’s far easier said than done. It’s going to be fun to watch.

Hello; Fair enough question. Only flaw is comparing LH with Max as if they are equivalent in terms of skill. Even with the evidence before us we see that Max has a hard time keeping a lesser car up front.
I do not have a crystal ball showing which car will be top of the heap in 2026. I do think it would be a sweet irony if Max wound up in LH's former seat at MB and then went on to dominate. My personal wish is for Max and LH to wind up on the same team. But I do not think Max is going anywhere near Ferrari. Maybe both at Cadilliac.

I get a sense Max may move over to road racing and leave the frustrations of F1 behind.
