Good for Ferarri, they did very well. Was surprised RB actually fixed most of there performance gap. Perez at some point has to step it up, past due in my opinion(but I’m not writing the checks), or be replaced. I felt bad for Hamilton going out early like he did with the spin. I don’t think his heart or head is in F1 currently or has been for quite a while. Hope he gets it turned around before he moves to Ferarri. He’s had to good of a career to have it go this way toward the end of it.

Thoughts on the race? :lipssealed:

Not sure how many here like cool die casts. Costco had this set today for 29$. Quality is really nice. Would have been cool if other teams were represented to. Maybe later.

Bought the Ferrari and Mercedes (of course) last year. I didn’t buy the Red Bull (of course 😂). This year they added McLaren. They looked really good but I just do not have any more room.

I missed the others, wish I hadn’t. Don‘t care what team it is, just enjoy them all. Long ago ran out of room . Lol. My oldest, I got him the merc lego. Really slick, and he absolutely loves it. He always asks where “Max” is but likes all the other drivers and cars to. There’s hope for the younger crowd.

Hello; watched the practice today at Mexico. Guess the new drivers need to have a chance to drive from time to time. The crash between a rookie and experienced driver is likely to be the topic of discussion. The new guy was way to the right side of the track with his outside wheels on and over the white line so plenty of track to his left.
One thing said was Albon may have been pushing hard because the new driver on the squad was doing so well.

Watched it as well. What kind of jack… comes off throttle half way on the outter apex of a corner. Guys behind are coming full tilt testing their setups.

Hello; A question for those with an understanding of the norms at tracks and that track in particular. Best I could tell is during practice & qualifying cars do slow down at points on the track so as to set up a fast lap run. So, a car slowing down is not unusual. The point of your comment is that a good place to do so?
I do not know the details of drivers meetings so cannot say if guidelines were set for these things. I do not know if the bosses on the radio gave instructions. I do not know if the Ferrari was having an issue and had to slow down.
If memory serves one commentator said the Ferrari was off the racing line at the moment of collision. I saw other instances of slow cars during the practice session so it is not like such was unexpected. The experienced regular driver mush have dealt with that situation many times over seasons.
I was and am curious as to who will get the blame and expect that to be mentioned in the next broadcast. We get the official verdict perhaps today. I get that you place blame on the new driver.

Drivers do slow down at times, that’s not unusual. Doing so through a fast section that doesn’t have a clear straight line of sight isn’t to smart. It happens fairly frequently, so it’s nothing new. If you go back and watch the incident he wasn’t off the racing line. Off the racing line on the exit of that particular section is to the inside which is the left portion of the track, not the right side which is the outside of the corner. Unless there’s an previous F1 driver doing commentary during the practice’s I pretty much tune out the the others. We get to watch drivers do boneheaded stuff pretty consistently. My other favorite is the multiple car dive bomb in to the first corner.

Hello; An interesting view point regardless. Fairly sure at least one of the talkers was a former racer. Not sure about having been an F1 driver.

That’d be Danica Patrick. As for being a “racer”, that’s up for debate. She was a marketing tool though, which was successfully done to her benefit.

Hello; Too bad I did not save the practice so I cannot review but am thinking it was one of the male commentators. Still, you have an interesting way of looking at things. Patrick did race and while she was not greatly successful, she did some better than other drivers of her time. Put another way as a driver she was middle of the pack. But I get the point you make, a sexist would say, (A Gutfield reference) that her celebrity is because of being a woman and being attractive.
Not clear how such makes her comments incorrect if she in fact made one.
After all you and i are making similar comments. Carry on.

I knew the sexist thing would come out, can‘t say anything negative or disagree with the protected groups without a label thrown. She was mid pack some times, but the kicker is she had the backing(financial and team) like a top tier outfit. She’d also had so much seat time by that point the skill level should have been there to. She is a pretty lady, no argument from me there. As for her comments it‘s like the guys calling college football and watching an atroscious call and they try and gloss over it or defend it. Then they’re those that call things the way they are. I prefer the latter, that’s all.

Hello; Just finished watching the Mexico race from a recording. Ferrari surprises again. Not that they had a fast set of cars but, to me, more so they did not foul up the strategy.
Not clear to me what happened to Max both in terms of his actions and the penalties parsed out. He made some risky & aggressive moves to be sure. Norris was racing equally hard. Guess it was down to where the actions happened. I seem to recall similar close racing over time between drivers with one or the other getting pushed off the track.
Not sure i can ever recall a 20 second penalty. I do not try to memorize such things so if any of you do keep track can you recall such? I do not intend to defend Max. As many on here have mentioned before i just want the rules enforced evenly. We already have that flaky umpire calling the world series games strike zones. F1 ought to be better.
