Only way to even the playing field would be to take the indycar approach and have a chassis manufacturer. But I don't want to see that happen. You can't have Ferrari and Mercedes claiming to be a works team running someone else's chassis.

I’m not a fan of this format either. But how is it a money grab? Attendance looks the same to me regardless of format. Separately, I think Checo’s days are numbered at Redbull. It’s unfortunate. The white line stuff was a little ridiculous.

So here we go again. Another stupid sprint weekend. Just MHO, of course. One practice session and then straight to qualifying. Just ridiculous. Tomorrow is strictly a money grab and then, finally, a real race on Sunday.

Anyone betting against Max this weekend? Not me.

The only race where this has worked is the INDY. Remember the ole IROC race. That is supposed to be about the driver skills? Yeah that was never popular. It has been mentioned here. F1 has always been a rich man’s sport. Stop trying to make everyone equal. Teams with a net worth less then a billion shouldn’t be allowed to participate.

Oh wise one, you are forgetting the real money maker, the TV audience. Three practice sessions, one qualifying session and one race versus one practice, two qualifying sessions, and two races. This is what the sprint races are all about.

Lol, I wasn’t giving you …. . Was genuinely curious what others take was on it. I’d be curious to know if the tv revenue side is a package or broken down by race. I do see where there would be slightly more commercial space. I equated the format page more to them think the attention span of the viewer is shorter kind of like they do with movie lengths at time.

No, I understand. As in other sports the income generated by the live audience is a mere pittance compared to the money generated by television and social media. The entire sprint race idea was born as a way to increase home viewership. There were a number of articles about this when the idea was first floated a few years ago.

Only thing I was surprised at, was Max dropping from leading every lap since Miami. Otherwise, business as usual. Decent racing in the mid-field.

Max was 7+ seconds behind LeClerk after the pit stop and it took him about 3 laps to catch and pass the Ferrari.
Nobody is catching RB any time soon.
